Harrisonville Ward 4 Alderman resigns from board

Josh Stafford
Ward 4 alderman Josh Stafford announced his resignation from the Board last night, saying he and his family were moving outside the city limits and he would therefore be ineligible to serve. His resignation took effect at the close of the meeting. Stafford was elected to the board in 2015.

Mayor Hasek thanked Stafford for his service and offered his hope that Josh would continue to serve in some other capacity, such as on one of Harrisonville’s volunteer boards or commissions.

The Harrisonville Municipal Code, Section 115.020, provides that the mayor can appoint someone who meets the necessary qualifications to fill a vacant seat with the majority approval of the remaining members of the board until the next regular municipal election, at which time voters will elect a new alderman to serve the remainder of the term. The next municipal election will be April 3, 2018.
