From KCP&L: Kansas City Power & Light

OUTAGE UPDATE: Crews continue to make progress restoring power after the major storm last night. Currently, we have about 50,000 customers without power, down nearly 90,000 from 138,000 during the height of the storm. 600 operations crews, including linemen from nearby utilities, continue to work to restore power. We expect outages to go into tomorrow.

We urge all customers to stay away from any downed power lines they may see. For outage updates or to report a power outage or down line call 1-888-544-4852 (LIGHTKC) or online at kcpl.com/reportoutage.

It is extremely hot today, so please take extra precaution if you’re without power. Drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous activity. Wear loose fitting, lightweight, natural fiber clothing. Limit the number of times you open the fridge to when only necessary to preserve your food. You can call 2-1-1 for a list of cooling locations in your area.
