Update: Butler man dies as result of crash yesterday

On August 3, 2017 shortly before noon the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bates County Sheriff’s Office, and Bates County Memorial Hospital Paramedics responded to a single-vehicle accident.

The location was a bridge on Southeast County Road 2275 near the intersection with Southeast County Road 365.

The vehicle had struck the side of the bridge, causing tire damage and the front driver-side tire traveled over the side of the bridge.

The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, fell from the vehicle to a stream bed below and sustained numerous injuries. He was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital and subsequently to Research Medical Center.

The driver, identified as 71-year-old Steven Hawk of Butler, died later in the evening at Research Medical Center as a result of the injuries sustained.
