Obituary - John Daniel Black

John Daniel Black, age 58, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Miami County Medical Center. He was born on August 25, 1960 at Fort Scott, Kansas the son of Weslie and Marjorie Berg Black. He graduated from Pleasanton High School in the Class of 1978. He married Susan Boyle on August 30, 1980 at Winfield, Kansas. He was employed by Linn County for thirty-eight years serving as road foreman for twenty-nine. He also operated Black and Sons Rolloffs. John served as a volunteer firefighter with Linn Country Station #920 for twenty-five years. He served as chief during several different periods and instructed Fire Rescue I and II. He was a member of the Pleasanton Nazarene Church. John''s biggest joy was his family; he was a loving husband, dad, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard, and two brother in laws, Dale Baldwin and Eric Kleweno. John is survived by his wife, Susan, two sons, Dan Black and Jeffrey Black and wife Danielle; two brothers, James Black and wife Julie and Patrick Black and wife Brenda; five sisters: Penny Black, Carol Beckwith and husband Bob, Glenna Baldwin and husband Lloyd, Janet Kleweno and Patricia Murray and husband Larry and one grandson.

Funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial in the Littell Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Chapel. Contributions are suggested to Linn County Fire Station #920. Outdoor plants are preferred to be used in a landscape in John''s memory.
