Just before midnight on Tuesday, May 20th, Clinton Police were dispatched to the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in reference to a subject who had been stabbed during an altercation on in the 100 block of South Main Street. Upon arrival, officers contacted the man who stated that he had been cut and suffered a laceration to his left side.
The wound was not life threatening and the victim was released after treatment. According to witnesses the victim became involved in an altercation with a subject later identified as Tristan R. Johnson, 18 years old, of California, Missouri. During the altercation Johnson produced a knife and cut the victim on his left side. Johnson then left the scene in a vehicle.
Johnson was contacted by telephone by Clinton Police and complied with a request to respond to the Clinton Police Department. Johnson told police that he was attacked and used his knife in self defense. After interviewing several witnesses, Clinton Police placed Johnson under arrest and incarcerated him in the Henry County Detention Center for 24 hour investigation of 1st degree Assault. His bond was set at $25,0000.00 and a warrant will be sought from the Henry County Prosecutor.
