Amsterdam Jubilee plans in high gear

The city of Amsterdam is ramping up for the 38th celebration of the annual Jubilee- with a renewed sense of excitement and enthusiasm that got folks fired up about the very first local celebration back in 1976.

And so far, efforts by the Jubilee committee are paying off- some 54 vendors have committed to setting up booths along main street offering a variety of, well you name it...all types of food, crafts, services and more- even doggie treats (a full list of vendors will be posted in upcoming days).

In recent years, Jubilee goers might have found a slight lull in activities here and there but the 2014 Jubilee will have a full schedule starting Friday evening, September 27th and all day Saturday to follow. Games and contests of all kinds will include some of the traditional favorites such as Bessie Bingo, but many new ones have been added as well such as the Kids Bake Off, a pie contest, turtle racing, the ugly truck contest, redneck games, Power Wheels racing and much, much more. And as always, you can look forward to the crowning of Jubilee royalty and the parade which gets bigger every year.

The 2014 Jubilee will honor a life long Jubilee supporter Elenora Crawford, 95, of Amsterdam who will serve as Grand Marshal. Elenora was chosen as she, even in her later years, always offers to help and does whatever is necessary to help insure the success of the annual celebration.

Mid America Live will be posting more information soon regarding the schedule, vendors and more. In the meantime feel free to visit the Jubilee Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Amsterdam-Jubilee/126079907502763
