Update: Several arrested in Butler drug bust

On 5/3/2017, The CNET Drug Taskforce and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office executed a drug search warrant at 310 W Harrison Street Butler MO 64730.

The search warrant was based off a couple months long investigation into the sales and distribution of methamphetamines from the residence. Agents from the CNET Drug Taskforce and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office received multiple tips from the community in regards to drugs being sold by the occupants.

During the search warrant multiple people were taken into custody. Items from drug paraphernalia, methamphetamines, prescription pills and counterfeit money were recovered during the search warrant.

The following people were arrested and charged in connection with the search warrant. Additional charges are expected to be filed after review by the Bates County Prosecutor.

Douglas K Stone w/m 1/3/1979: 1 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance class D Felony, 1 count of Possession of Controlled Substance class D Misdemeanor, 1 count of Possession of drug paraphernalia class D Misdemeanor. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety


Jacqueline A Bennett w/f 1/26/1963: 1 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance class D Felony, 1 count of Possession of Controlled Substance class D Misdemeanor, 1 count of Possession of drug paraphernalia class D Misdemeanor. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety

Joel C Mendel w/m 2/21/1975: 1 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance class D Felony, 1 count of Possession of Controlled Substance class D Misdemeanor, 1 count of Possession of drug paraphernalia class D Misdemeanor. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety

Aaron J Abney w/m 4/11/1995: 1 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance class D Felony, 1 count of Forgery class D Misdemeanor, 1 count of Possession of drug paraphernalia- prior drug offense class A Misdemeanor. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety

“This is a perfect example of what happens when our citizens work with Law Enforcement,” Says Sheriff Anderson. “Our goal is to help create neighborhoods that are safe for our kids and the only way we can do that is to have cooperation and trust with our community.”

“We will also be asking the prosecutor to start charging occupants with the offense of Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance in accordance with Rsmo 579.105. This offense pertains to drug activity and known as keeping a drug house, which is a Class E Felony, “says Sheriff Anderson. “Notification will also be sent to property owners making them aware of the consequences of renting to people who continue to use their property for the purpose referred to in this statute.”
