Lyme disease: A little good news

As of late there has been a lot of reporting on new tick borne illnesses such as the Bourbon virus, which was first found just across state line in Kansas.

As scientists scramble to find cures and treatments for the new strains, an announcement was made recently that a vaccine to prevent Lyme Disease may be available within a few years. With well over a quarter million people getting infected with Lyme Disease each year, this is welcomed news.

University of Massachusetts Medical School has been working on the vaccine and say preliminary tests on mice have proven to be effective. Overall, the school is promising the vaccine to be 100% effective in preventing Lyme Disease in humans.

In the meantime, PREVENTION is the best bet. Get more info about how to guard against tick bites here https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/avoid/on_people.html
