We are excited to award Zack Wicks with State Farm Student Athlete of the week. Zack is a senior and on the Butler wrestling team. He recently won 4th place at the Missouri State Wrestling Tournament. Zack was nominated by Butler’s athletic director Jake Duvall. Zack has had an amazing wrestling career at Butler and has participated in wrestling since he was a small child.
He also has maintained good grades and works hard in the classroom. He is going to college at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa in the fall and will be a member of their wrestling team. He hopes to major in physical education and become a wrestling coach. When we asked Zack what it takes to become an elite athlete he stated “first of all you have to be coachable.
You have to be ready to go at all times, even when it gets tough, don’t quit. You have to work hard and train hard and mentally be ready.” It was great to talk to Zack and we wish him the best of luck as he goes on to this next chapter!
