Obituary - Ruth Ann Antrim

Ruth Ann Antrim, formerly Hueston, passed away July 2025 after bravely battling cancer for many years. Ruth Ann was 74 years old. She lived and worked in the Mound City and Fort Scott, Kansas areas her entire life. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Marie Hueston. Born on May 21, 1951. She attended school in Mapleton, Fulton, and finally at Uniontown where she graduated from. Ruth Ann married Guy Antrim on November 4, 1977 in Mapleton, Kansas. This union led to two children, Brian and Michael. Ruth Ann already had a son, Jerry from a previous relationship. She worked in many different places during her life. The Fort Scott Tribune, Western Insurance Companies, SEKAN printing and Ennis Business Forms from which she retired. She also worked part-time in nursing homes as well as the Fort Scott Livestock Auction. At one time, she was working three jobs. Whatever she had to do to take care of her family, she did. Ruth Ann loved animals and raised many dozens of orphaned rabbits. It was hoped no one was giving away a wayward buffalo, because she would have tried to rear it. The one thing that she loved and cherished more than anything were her boys. She sacrificed everything for them and to know she was only a phone call away, brought great comfort to them. Although, her own boys came first, a very close second were the multiple neighborhood boys who were always a fixture at her house. Usually to eat. It was not unusual to have six or eight boys plus her three to feed. Being able to produce enough homemade chicken and noodles to feed a platoon of teenage boys was an absolute miracle. Yet she did it every weekend, from yeast rolls to cream peas and potatoes, no one went away hungry. Indeed, many of her most famous dishes seemed to defy the laws of physics, as they cannot be duplicated to this day. Ruth Ann knew how to raise hard working, honest kids. Indeed, some of the boys brought girlfriends and fiances by, to get her approval. She loved her friends and cousins or really anybody that would stand still long enough to receive a hug. You weren't getting away without one. Ruth Ann had an absolute uncanny sense of time. If you left her house she knew, plus or minus ten minutes, about how long it should take you. If you didn't report in, you were getting a phone call. There are going to be a lot of us missing those first thing in the morning calls as well. You know who you are. She cared for her parents as they struggled with health issues. Her husband, Guy had a long struggle with cancer and this really wore her down. The loss of her youngest son, Michael, was something that she never fully recovered from, even after twenty years. If a cousin or friend came by the house, she was quick to jump in the car and off they went. She loved flowers, gardening and sarcasm. The latter will be sorely missed. Ruth Ann Antrim is survived by a brother, Tom Hueston and his wife, Jeanie of Mapleton, Kansas, two sons, Jerry Anderson of McCune, Kansas and Brian Antrim and wife, Becky of Prescott, Kansas, four grandchildren, Dreyton, Connery, Kendall and Axle. Too many other boys to mention, but you know who you are.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, July 15 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 am to service time. Burial will follow in the Mapleton Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to Care to Share of Linn County and may be sent in care of the Schneider Funeral Home P.O. Box J Mound City, Kansas 66056.

Obituary - Vicki Sue Moser

Vicki Sue Moser, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on July 3rd, 2025, at her home in Roach, Missouri. Vicki was born in Butler, Missouri on August 6th, 1947, to Robert and Bonnie Cumpton.

Vicki is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bob Moser; daughter Jackie (Anthony) Fanara, son Rob (Bridget) Moser; five grandchildren, Matt Stone, Luke (Amber) Stone, Caleb Moser, Tanner Reed, Grace Moser; and great grandson Wicks Stone. She is preceded in death by both parents, in-laws Gene and Sara Moser, sister-in-law Linda Moser, and brother-in-law Gary Moser.

Vicki was raised on her parent’s farm in Adrian, Missouri where she was known to spend time with her dad in the dairy barn and on the tractor. Her education began in a one-room schoolhouse with the distinction of being the only first-grade student. Vicki graduated from Adrian High School in 1965 and later attended college at Central Missouri State University (CMSU) in Warrensburg, Missouri, majoring in education.

While attending CMSU, Vicki met Bob on a blind date set up by close friends. They both often spoke of knowing that first date was the start of something special, and their intuition proved true as they married at the CMSU Chapel on May 20th, 1968.

Vicki’s teaching career began at the Slippery Rock School District in Pennsylvania, near Bob’s hometown of Butler. She continued her career in Fairfax County, Virginia, where she and Bob made a home for 10 years. In 1979, Vicki and Bob moved to Adrian, Missouri where she taught for another 23 years, completing a 33-year career educating youth with devotion and a sense of care that always challenged them to be their best. Students and visitors frequenting Vicki’s classroom were met with the witty slogan on a sign stating, “This is not Burger King, we do it my way.” More recently, Vicki was quite proud of granddaughter Grace Moser who is following her way, starting her own teaching career in the fall of 2025.

Upon her retirement in 2002, Vicki moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where she and Bob spent the last 23 wonderful years together. At the lake, Vicki was known for her gardening, growing flowers, landscaping with river rock, and anything else that would take her outside. Although her green thumb skill set was something special, Vicki most enjoyed spending time with family and hosting friends. Bob often says Vicki was responsible for turning a lake cabin into their lake home.

Vicki’s love for water extended from the lake to the ocean, having sailed 24 Caribbean cruises with Bob. While the ship casino is where you would often find her when at sea, Vicki most enjoyed the time visiting all ports of call, Aruba being her favorite.

Hundreds of students benefitted from Vicki’s instruction through the years, gaining knowledge and discipline they carry to this day. But one did not need to sit in a classroom to be part of her legacy. Vicki lived life, showing love and care to family and friends, and demonstrating an element of work ethic and toughness we all learned from. Above all, Vicki had unshakable faith, loving our Lord and Savior with all her heart.

Please join the family for a Celebration of Life honoring Vicki Sue Moser on Saturday, July 19th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Adrian Optimist Building located at 317 S. Old 71 Highway, Adrian, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations “For Student Needs” be sent to Adrian R-III School District, 601 N. Houston, P.O. Box 98, Adrian, Missouri, 64720 in memory of Vicki Moser.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.

Obituary - Todd Michael Staum

Todd Michael Staum, age 61, of Paola, Kansas passed away on July 5, 2025, after battling cancer. Todd passed at home surrounded by loved ones.

Todd was born in Vermillion, South Dakota to Clayton and Mary Ellen Staum on August 15, 1963. He grew up in Elk Point, South Dakota where he graduated in 1981.

In 1986, Todd married Mary Guillaume. They had 2 children, Janna and Derek. That marriage ended in divorce. In 2008, Todd married Shelly Staum.

Todd will always be remembered for his love of family and friends, his kind heart, and witty personality. Todd was always willing to give his time at benefits and special events. His love of cooking was evident as he enjoyed cooking for family, friends and even catering events. A core memory for the grandkids is having a pancake war in the kitchen after a sleepover. Todd was always up for shenanigans even if it meant destroying the kitchen. Another love in his life was his Harley Davidson trike. He seldom rode the open roads with no destination in mind. He loved to find a spot to ride to for a meal or a cold beverage. Traveling was a mutual love for Todd and Shelly. They took many adventurous trips - some just the two of them, and some with family or friends. Jamaica was one of Todd’s favorite destinations.

Todd was a Trustee at the Paola Fraternal Order of Eagles. He also volunteered as one of the cooks for the breakfasts served there on the weekends. In his earlier years, Todd was a youth wrestling coach where he was proud of taking kids to state tournaments. Todd loved watching his daughter, Janna play basketball and his son, Derek compete on the wrestling mat.

In the 1990s Todd began his career in the asphalt business becoming a Plant Operator for Superior Bowen. Todd took pride in his work and built close friendships with many co-workers.

Todd is survived by his wife Shelly, daughter Janna Staum, son Derek Staum, stepson R.J. Trumbly (Jenny) and stepdaughter Lora Trumbly. Todd and Shelly have 6 grandchildren: Kayden Ditch, Urijah Ditch, Kyndall Christiano, Noah Trumbly, Grant Trumbly and Jordan Trumbly. Todd is also survived by 4 siblings: Scott Staum (Kelly), Dawn Staum, Danny Staum and Candace Petersen (Kelly). Todd is preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Mary Ellen Staum, and grandparents.

Todd will be laid to rest July 12, 2025. A graveside service will take place at Paola Cemetery at noon, followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Paola Eagles located at 26433 Eagle Dr., Paola, Kansas. On July 19, 2025, Todd will be taken to his hometown to be laid to rest next to his parents at the Elk Point Cemetery in Elk Point, South Dakota. A Celebration of Life dinner will follow at the Elk Point American Legion Hall located at 103 E. Main St, Elk Point, South Dakota.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Paola Fraternal Order of Eagles. Todd devoted time to helping improve the organization and this will help carry on his legacy.
