News from the Butler Fire Department

Butler and Adrian Fire Departments responded to 212 W. Mill Friday morning, June 29, for a report of a structure fire.

On arrival, the fire was located in the kitchen of a second floor apartment.

The fire was extinguished with heavy fire damage to the area of origin, with moderate smoke damage to the remainder of the apartment and light smoke damage to the adjoining apartment.

Crews were on the scene approximately an hour. The fire was accidental in nature and there were no injuries.

The Amsterdam Fire Chief was in town and brought the Butler rescue unit to the scene with rehab supplies and Bates County EMS was on the scene for stand by.

On Saturday, June 30, the Butler Fire Dept. responded to the Masonic Lodge building on N. Bus. 71 for a report of a vehicle fire.

The 1996 GMC Jimmy sustained damage to the engine compartment and interior.
Crews were on the scene just over 30 minutes.

As a reminder, it is extremely hot and dry. There are no burning permits being issued in the City of Butler. If you live in an area where you can burn, it is strongly discouraged. Some cities have banned all outdoor fires, including grills. Although they are not banned in the city of Butler, extreme caution if cooking outside should be exercised.

Also, anyone using fireworks for the Independence Day holiday should use extreme caution.
