Most of Adrian and Archie without power

KCP&L customers in the Adrian and Archie area have been without power for several hours as crews are working to determine the problem.

At this time officials are unable give word on how long it may remain off.

Safety Village starts July 23rd

Sign ups will be Sunday, July 22nd, at the Old High School from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with Safety Village running the week of Monday, July 23rd, to Friday, July 27th. A morning or afternoon session is available. SV is sponsored by the Bates Co. Elks and is free to any child who is four or five years old during the week of SV. Please bring your child with you to sign ups so that he/she can meet his/her teen leader and take a tour of Safety Village. We look forward to seeing you there!!

Fire in south Butler

The Butler fire department has been dispatched to a residence near Main and Nursery streets, where an air conditioning unit is reported to be on fire, dangerously close to the structure.

Be alert and watch for emergency vehicles if traveling through the area.

Obituary - Ruth Ferrel

Funeral services for Ruth Ferrel will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Mullinax Funeral Home in Butler, Missouri (660) 679-0009 with Brother Bill Perkey officiating. Visitation Sunday evening, 5-7 PM at Mullinax Funeral Home. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler.

Helen Ruth Ferrel, 86 of Abilene, Texas and formerly of Butler, Missouri, died July 4, 2012 in Abilene. Ruth was born July 2, 1926. Among survivors are Ruth’s sons, Gary Lynn Ferrel and Paul Allen Ferrel. A complete obituary will be published as the information becomes available.
