Friday night at the Bates County Fair...

A team member successfully heaves a bale of straw in the
Purt Near Anything Goes contest this evening
As Fair week winds down lots of laughter could be heard coming from the grandstands as the annual Purt Near Anything Goes contest was held in the main arena this evening.

Teams worked for the best scores in a variety of competitions including 4 man skiing, bale bucking and much more.

A list of winners will be posted soon.

Obituary - Elizabeth Colson

Rosary and funeral services for Elizabeth Colson will be 5 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Father Tom Hermes officiating. Cremation to follow services. Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday evening at Schowengerdt Chapel. Contributions to Crossroads Hospice of Warrensburg or Lupus Foundation.

Elizabeth Katherine Koch-Colson, age 38 of Montrose, Missouri died Thursday, July 12, 2012 in Urich, Missouri. She was born May 19, 1974 to David Koch and Kathy Patrick in Butler, Missouri.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband and love of her life, Kevin Colson of Montrose, Missouri; her father, David Koch of Montrose, Missouri; her mother, Kathy Patrick and husband Travis of Urich, Missouri; her grandmother, Clara Koch of Montrose, Missouri; three brothers, Greg Koch and companion Pam of Tightwad, Missouri, Matt Koch of Montrose, Missouri and Glenn Koch and wife Charlotte of Montrose, Missouri; one stepbrother, Adam Patrick of Urich, Missouri; friend and foreign exchange student, Julius Hietala of Finland; and many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Matthew Koch; and maternal grandparents, Elmer and Dorothy Hon.

Obituary - Jack Scott

Jack Sullivan Scott, 87, Adrian, Missouri, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at his home. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adrian United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Adrian Library.
