TRESPASSING-RICH HILL Dispatched to the Starr residence in reference to trespassing.
THEFT-BUTLER Bates County Deputies responded to the construction site a Highway 71 and 52 to take a report of theft.  Items stolen included a Dewalt generator, power cords, nylon tiedown straps and various power tools.  The items were owned by JA Manning construction, Hilty Quarries and Midwest lumber.

FORGERY-RICH HILL Bates County Deputies received a walk in report of forgery from Kenneth Taylor.  Kenneth stated that his name was forged on two payroll checks from the Rich Hill School District.

PAPER SERVICE-DREXEL  Bates County Deputies arrested Shane Fink of Drexel on a Bates County.

LEAVE WITHOUT PAY-ADRIAN Bates County Deputies took a report at Happy Go Lucky in Adrian in reference to a gas drive off. There is no suspect information at this time.
SEXUAL ASSAULT Bates County Sheriff's Office received information of a child molestation report from the State of Kansas, as the incident took place in Bates County.  Due to the age of the victim and the case still being open, no information can be released at this time.

CHILD MOLESTATION-AMSTERDAM Bates County Sheriff's Office received information from Cass County Sheriff's Office, of a possible child molestation case, in the Amsterdam area.  Due to the age of the victim, and case being open, no details can be released.

Merritt's inducted into 4-H Hall of Fame

Wesley and Sue Merritt of rural Butler were among the 50 4-H volunteer leaders inducted into the Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame at the fourth annual induction ceremony that was held at the Missouri State Fair on Sunday, August 15, 2010.  According to Alan J. Mundey, Bates County 4-H Youth Specialist, as retired educators, Wes and Sue have dedicated their lives to influencing the lives of children.  In their combined 51 years of service to 4-H, they have provided leadership, guidance, and instruction to hundreds of young people.  They continue to serve as project leaders today and Bates County 4-H hopes to have them share their expertise with 4-H’ers for many years to come.  The Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Missouri 4-H Foundation, FCS Financial Services and the Missouri State Fair.

Early morning accident east of Bulter

A Columbia Mo. man sustained minor injuries in an accident at just before 6 am this morning on route H, 1 mile west of route BB. According the MSHP report, the 1994 Chevrolet driven by Ralph E. Patrick, 27, of Columbia traveled off the right side of H highway and struck a tree. The vehicle was totaled. The report shows the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and charges are pending.
