Motorcycle Accident North of Amsterdam

Amsterdam Fire, Bates County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol are en route to the scene of a motorcycle accident approximately 2 miles North of Amsterdam on Y highway. Apparently the motorcycle left the roadway, ejecting the rider. No word yet on injuries.

Two from Butler injured in motorcycle accident

Two Butler residents were injured in a motorcycle accident Saturday near Peculiar. Jeremy R. Davis and Jennifer S. Davis, both 29, were riding a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle on 71 Highway just north of route J when an unknown vehicle changed lanes in front of the motorcycle, causing it to swerve off of the left side of the roadway, ejecting the riders. Both were taken to Research Hospital in Kansas city; Jeremy Davis with serious injuries and Jennifer Davis with moderate injuries. Both were wearing helmets. An investigation is pending.

Non injury accident near Amsterdam

Authorities are responding to a reported non-injury accident North of Amsterdam near the railroad tracks on Y Highway. No other information is available at this time.

Obituary - Jerry Lee Cook

Funeral services for Jerry L. Cook of Butler, Missouri will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler with Dr. Terry Davis officiating. Visitation 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7 at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial, Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Contributions, Butler First Baptist Church or the Butler Public Library. 

With great sadness we announce the death of former Mayor of Butler, Jerry L. Cook. age 67. Jerry died suddenly on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born June 1, 1943 to Roy Grant and Betty Jane Mahan Cook in Butler, Missouri.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gayle Clark Cook of the home in Butler; two sons, Brent Cook and wife Gina of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Brian Cook and wife Dana of Overland Park, Kansas; three grandchildren, Tess, Brenna and Bailey Cook; a brother, Randy Cook and wife Debbie of Butler, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley Umstattd and husband Delbert of Ballard, Missouri and Kay Hager and husband Ken of Hiram, Georgia. He is further survived by a son, Dayvion Cook of Kansas City, Missouri; and two Thai children that Jerry and Gayle assisted in raising, Pirapon Namatra and wife Sunisa of Bangkok, Thailand and their children Yim and Kwan and Lilana Peck and husband Steve of Olathe, Kansas and their children Ava and Ander. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Cook.
