All night lock in at Virginia UMC


The Virginia United Methodist Church is holding a 'lock  in' for teens on October 9th at the church, located West of Butler on 52 Highway. From 5 to 9 pm, children ages 9 to 12 are invited to enjoy the activities, while teens 13 to 18 may partake in the 'lock in' which goes until until 7 am the next morning.  There will be food, fun and fellowship all night. Alpacas for Autism open house and sale this weekend

Tina and Bob Cochran are pleased to announce their annual open house and sale this weekend at their farm East of Adrian. Kid's and adults alike will enjoy seeing alpacas and fainting goats up close as well as seeing spinning demonstrations, shopping for goat soap, alpaca yarn, toys and more.

The event spans Saturday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm both days. Directions are 2.5 miles East of Adrian on 18 Highway, turn South on NE 3003 one mile, then right on NE 11004 1/10 of a mile. For info call 816-258-0089.

Adrian City Wide Cleanup starts next week

Residents of Adrian will have the opportunity to get rid of excess junk starting next week. The annual city wide clean up starts on Monday, September 27th for residents South of Main street and those North of Main street will be served on Monday October 4th. Most anything will be picked up, with the exception of yard waste, brush and tires. There will be a limit of one pickup load per household.

Have items curbside no later than 6 am on Monday of your clean up week. Please do not place your regular weekly trash with these items.

Butler Police report

August 31st - 600 block of West Pine child abuse, charges filed; 200 block of West Atkison, drug activity, charges filed.
September 2 - Fran apartments, assault, charges pending.
September 3 - 100 block of South Mechanic, dog attacked another dog killing it. Charges filed against owner, dog impounded.
September 4 - 300 block of Prospect, stolen license plate.
September 5 - Accident, Orange and Nursery.
September 6 - Walmart, shop lifting, Charges filed with the juvenile office.
September 7 - 300 block of West Harrison, theft report taken; Boy Scout Park, vandalism report taken.
September 8 - 700 block of West Pine, assault. Male subject charged.
September 9 - Thompson and Pine streets, traffic violations report; Country Mart parking lot, accident; Inn Building, break in, three arrested for methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
September 10 - North business 71, traffic stop with methamphetamine found, one subject arrested; West and Sunset streets, hit and run accident; walk in report from Casey's on Fort Scott accident on Sept 8th; Butler football field, assault, juvenile punched by adult, arrest made.
September 11 - Skateboard park, assault report taken; 100 block of South Broadway, narcotics violation, male subject charged with possession.
