Rash of local burglaries reported

The Bates County Sheriff's Department has been busy investigating several reports of theft around the county this week. Two Honda 300 four wheelers were stolen in the Rich Hill area, both of which had windshields and one of them had a sprayer mounted on the front rack. Also four red 2 gallon gas cans were taken from the same location.

In Adrian, deputies took a report of a stolen CD case with approximately 800 CD's in it. No suspect information is available at this time.

Bates County Live was informed of a car break in during the football game at Miami High School Friday night. The car was locked and a purse was taken during the theft.

Deputies also took a report of a stolen guitar in the Amoret area this week and a report of stolen metal near Passaic.

Near Foster, a residence was broken into and items stolen included a TV, tower speakers, jewelry, antiques, clothing, DVD/VCR combo and a gas mask. Total of these items is approximately $560.

The Sheriff's Department reminds everyone to watch for suspicious activity and never leave items such as purses, MP3 players, cell phones, etc. in plain sight in your locked vehicle. FRAUD – RICH HILL Deputies took a report of a possible fraud at Fastrip in Rich Hill, Missouri.

CHILD MOLESTATION – RICH HILL Bates County Sheriff's Office, received a report of child molestation investigation, which was allegedly to have occurred in February 2010 in the Rich Hill area.  Due to the age of the victim, and the suspect still at large, no names can be released at this time.
RECOVERED PROPERTY – HUME flute was returned to the business of Meyer Music located in Blue Springs, after a subject refused to return the property to the business, but turned the property over to the Bates County Sheriff's Office.

TRAFFIS STOP – BBhwy Deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle north of Spruce, Missouri on BB Hwy. Driver was issued citations for expired license plates.

PAPER SERVICE at approximately 1342 hours, Deputies responded to a residence in Adrian reference a warrant arrest.  Subject at residence was arrested on an outstanding Cass County felony warrant.

BURGLARY – RICH HILL at approximately 1700 hours, Deputies responded to Foster area reference a Burglary that had occurred sometime in the last three weeks.  Upon arrival observed forced entry to a window on the north side of the residence and items stolen include a TV, tower speakers, costume jewelry, miscellaneous antiques, clothing, DVD/VCR combo and a gas mask. All of the above listed items totaled approximately $560.

THEFT – HUME at approximately 1700 hours, Deputies were dispatched to the Hume area reference a stolen vehicle.  Upon arrival the victim stated that his car had been stolen sometime in the last six months.  It was determined the vehicle had already been recovered on an unrelated case and is currently being held in police impound.
THEFT – RICH HILL at approximately 1653 hours, Deputies responded to the Rich Hill area reference a Burglary that had occurred in the past couple of weeks.  Upon arrival numerous items were reported to have been stolen all items totaling approximately $547.  A suspect was later located, items recovered and charges are pending.
TRESPASSING – AMORET Deputies responded to RT 1 Amoret in reference to trespassing.
WANTED SUBJECT – RICH HILL at approximately 1329 hours, Deputies arrested a male subject on an outstanding Felony Warrant out of Bates County for Probation Violation original charge of DWI total bond of 10,000 cash or surety. Suspect was arrested and transported to the Bates County Jail.

FOLLOW UP – BUTLER Warrant arrest of Christopher B. Jacobs.
THEFT – DREXEL Deputies responded to RT 1 Drexel in reference to a theft that occurred upon arrival it was found to be a misunderstanding and item were returned.

TRAFFIC STOP – AMSTERDAM Deputies stopped a gray Chevrolet Camaro in Amsterdam, Missouri for not displaying any license plate on the vehicle. The driver was issued a citation for failing to register a motor vehicle.

Obituary - Leila B. Rogers

Leila B. Rogers, 85, Gallatin, MO, died Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Single car accident

Bates County EMS and Adrian Fire/Rescue is en route to a single car accident on 71 Highway, just South of Archie. Initial reports are of minor injuries.
