As part of Drexel's Fall Festival tomorrow, the Mountainman Encampment group will be fully set up as a living history exhibit in H.T. Smith park. The group will display life as families came together after a long period of hunting and trapping. The annual Fall Festival will be in conjunction with some 40+ garage sales within the Drexel city limits tomorrow, while a full day of events are planned in the park.

The encampment group will spend several nights in the park during the festival weekend.

Motorcyclist receives serious injuries this morning

Just before 6 am, Paula L. O'Connor, 45, of Adrian received serious injuries in an accident approximately 1 mile East of Merwin on 18 Highway. According to the report, the rider claims said she was struck by an unknown vehicle causing her to lose control. The 1997 Harley Davidson then overturned, coming to a rest on top of the rider as it slid down the roadway. O'Connor was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to St. Lukes hospital for treatment. The investigation continues; charges are pending at this time. The Missouri Highway Patrol, Bates County Sheriff's Department and the Amsterdam Fire Department assisted on the scene.
