Area man dies in accident
Bates County Live has been informed of the death of Steve Cowley of the Virginia community who died as the result of injuries from an accident this morning. No further details are available at this time.

Walter L. Heckadon, 83, Adrian, MO, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 8 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Virginia Cemetery, Virginia, MO. Visitation, 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Contributions to 4-H Council or Youth Advocacy.
Eugene Dines, age 86 of Butler, Missouri died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. He was born July 8, 1924 to Verna McKinley and Elnora Marie Shoop Dines in Johnson City, Missouri.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Marcella Dines of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Marcie McElwain of Butler, Missouri and Lynn Kauffman and husband David of Harrisonville, Missouri; two sisters, Velda cox of Butler, Missouri and Vesta Limpus and husband Kenneth of Archie, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hudson and husband Pat, Jon McElwain and wife Toni, Jesse Kauffman and wife Josi and Kent Kauffman; and four great-grandchildren, Hannah Hudson, Joshua Hudson, Ronnie Lee McElwain and Rene Kauffman; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin Dines; and one sister, Eileen Casey.

Joelene's wishes were to be cremated and remembered with fond memories. Private family graveside memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, Missouri with Rev. Lynn Snapp officiating. No visitation. Contributions, Home For the Aging c/o Immanuel Baptist Church.
Joelene is survived by her parents, Joe and Clarice Robinson of Butler, Missouri; a niece, Calee McElwain of Butler, Missouri; and a great-niece, Marissa McElwain of Butler, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; and one brother, Steve Robinson.
Curnutte's celebrating 54th anniversary
Jim and Lila Curnutte of Amsterdam are celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary today. They were married in Drexel MO, October 6, 1956.
Update on accident reported Monday
Diana L. Romans, 55, of Butler received minor injuries on Monday when her 2000 Chevrolet ran off the roadway and struck an embankment just North of Passaic. According to the report, Romans was traveling Northbound on 71 Highway around 11:25 a.m. just North of Route D and lost control while passing another another vehicle. The car received extensive damage and was towed from the scene; Romans was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Man hurt in rural area SE of Rich Hill
A Life Flight medical helicopter has been dispatched to a location South and East of Rich Hill where a man has reportedly received serious injuries from an accident. The nature of the accident is unknown; Bates County EMS and Rich Hill Fire Department is also en route. More information will be made available as it comes in.
