Butler Police Department activity report

Jan. 11th -  Officers make a traffic stop at West 52 and Sunset. The driver is arrested for driving while revoked.

Officers take a leave without pay report from Conoco gas station.

Jan. 12th - Officers respond to the 400 block of S. Delaware on a possible disturbance call. Both parties admit arguing but neither is willing to sign a complaint.

Jan. 13th - Officers make a vehicle stop at Conoco. During a search of the vehicle officers find a white powdery substance. The powder tests positive as cocaine. The driver is arrested.

Officers work a single vehicle accident on H Highway just East of Patty Ford road.

Jan. 14th - Officers make a vehicle stop in the 100 block of West Ohio. During the stop marijuana is found and the driver is arrested.

Officers take a walk in report of harassment. Currently under investigation.

Officers assist the Division of Family Services on a call at the Hill Top Trailer Court. During a search of the residence, officers find numerous types of paraphernalia. Once male subject is arrested.

Jan. 15th - Officers make a vehicle stop in the 300 block of North Fulton st. The driver is arrested for possession of an Open Container and Minor in Possession.

Jan. 16th - Officers take a runaway juvenile report in the 800 block of South High. The juvenile is later located.

Jan. 17th - After an investigation, officers issued a summons on the Alley Pic and Pub for allowing minors inside a bar.

Officers are dispatched to the 400 block of South Delaware on a disturbance call. Upon arrival, both parties admit to arguing but neither is willing to sign a complaint.

Officers make a vehicle stop on North Business 71. The driver is arrested for driving while revoked.

Winter Storm Watch issued for our area

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for western Missouri advising that Bates County may see 3 to 4 inches of snow while areas to the north may get much more. Overall Bates County has a 30% chance of snow with lows dropping to around 3 degrees tomorrow night as winds gust up to 25 mph.

Tournament
On Saturday, January 8, 2011, the Butler Bears wrestling team hosted the Butler Invitational Tournament. The tournament included Adrian, Butler, Cameron, Harrisonville JV, Holden, Knob Noster, Rogers (Arkansas), and Trenton. Butler placed 4th as a team out of 10 schools. The Bears had one individual tournament champion, Cody Pitts, who won the 160 lb bracket with a record of 5-0. Cameron, a very strong class 2 program, won the tournament by a wide margin.

 the Warsaw Tournament

On Saturday, January 15, 2011, the Butler Bears wrestling team travelled to the Warsaw Invitational Tournament. The tournament included Adrian, Blair Oaks, Butler, Clinton, Diamond, Lone Jack, Tipton, Versailles, and Warsaw, and Wentworth Military Academy. Butler placed 6th as a team out of 11 schools. The Bears had one individual tournament champion, Trey Heckadon, who won the 112 lb bracket with a record of 4-0. Five total Bear wrestlers earned medals at the tournament. Blair Oaks finished as the team tournament champions.

Bates County Cattlemen and CattleWomen award winners

A fairly large crowd attended the annual Bates County Cattleman and CattleWomen's meeting last Saturday night at the Adrian Optimist Building, enjoying a prime rib dinner and music by the Sweetwater Band. As part of the festivities, this years awards were presented:

Cattleman of the year - Carl Harris, Adrian
Cattlewoman of the year - Sherry Warfield, Butler
Pioneer of the year - Al Jessup, Butler

Mike Grimes Memorial Scholarship went to Brenda Arnold of Adrian and Samantha Warner of Archie.
The association would like to extend a hearty thank-you and looks forward to next years meeting.
