Senator David Pearce Receives Veterans “Legislator of the Year” Award

JEFFERSON CITY — Senator David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, was named on Jan. 31, 2011, by the Missouri Association of Veterans Organizations (MAVO) as “Legislator of the Year” as a member of the Missouri Senate.

“It is a great honor to me to be named ‘Legislator of the Year’ by such an extensive organization,” Sen. Pearce said. “It is nice to be recognized for working on behalf of our veterans.”

Missouri Association of Veterans Organizations works to bring the common interests and concerns of veterans organizations together. The group represents 22 different veterans organizations. Senator Pearce currently serves on the Missouri Veterans Commission and the Missouri Senate Veterans’ Affairs, Emerging Issues, Pensions and Urban Affairs Committee.

“I’ve been working on veterans issues since my introduction to the General Assembly, and I will continue to provide a voice for those who served our nation as long as I work in the Legislature,” Sen. Pearce said. “It is my hope that the Legislature advances beneficial measures that will better serve our state’s veterans, both now and into the future.”

Representative David Day, R-Dixon, was awarded a similar honor as a representative from the Missouri House.
