Obituary - Bonnie McElwain

Funeral services for Bonnie Lou McElwain will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Pastor Robert Glover officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Lee's Summit Faith Baptist Church.

Bonnie Lou McElwain, age 77 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit. She was born April 30, 1933 to Henry Taylor and Pauline Woirhaye Underwood in Ballard, Missouri.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Marvin McElwain of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two sons, Danny Taylor McElwain and wife Rebecca of Greenwood, Missouri and Jimmy Dale McElwain of Kansas City, Missouri; twin sister, Mary Lou Green and husband James of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and two grandsons, Matthew Taylor McElwain and Clinton Daniel McElwain. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Obituary - Geneva Isaac

Funeral services for Neva Isaac will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Bethany Mennonite Church in Rich Hill. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Burial in Bethany Mennonite Cemetery, Rich Hill. Contributions to Moundridge Manor.

Geneva “Neva” Darlene Isaac, age 87 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Moundridge Manor in Moundridge, Kansas. She was born March 6, 1923 to John and Lizzie Jantz Koehn in McPherson County, Kansas.

Neva is survived by her son, Jimmy Isaac and wife Ella Mae of Butler, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Luana Isaac of Burns, Kansas; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Koehn of McPherson, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Errol Isaac, Anthony Isaac and wife Carla, Sherry Scharf and husband Mitch, Annette Houchin and husband Bruce, June Huls and husband Danny, Carmella Koehn and husband Wendell, Rose Ann Forgy and Janarro Jantz and husband Kevin; 18 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband David in 1989; one son, David Alan Isaac; and a daughter, Carol Koehn.

Next chance of snow sneaking in from the West...

Forecasters are calling for a chance of a rain and snow mixture later tonight with a low in the mid 20's. Travel conditions could get hectic, use caution if you're out this evening. The snapshot to the left shows the incoming precipitation, which is still several hours away.

Archie man struck by car

An Archie man received serious injuries on route F, 1/2 mile north of 339th street in Cass County just before 1 p.m. yesterday. Robert D. Huber, 23, apparently walked into the path of a 2007 Kia driven by Marvin R. Taylor, 54, of Adrian while trying to get Taylor to stop for assistance after getting stuck in the snow.

Huber was transported to Research Medical Center for treatment. No charges are pending at this time.

Snow falls, roads slick

A 'chance' of snow in the forecast has become reality over the last 45 minutes or so. In that time, almost a half inch has fallen in Northern Bates County making roads very slick. Use extreme caution if you are traveling this evening. You may view live radar here. Rumor has it we are to expect 2 to 3 inches from this slow moving winter storm.

Albert S. Smalley Jr., age 88 of Butler, Missouri died Friday, February 4, 2011 at Medicalodge of Butler. He was born October 7, 1922 to Albert Sidney and Nanny McGill Smalley in Raymore, Missouri.

Albert is survived by his wife, Berniece Smalley of Butler, Missouri; one son, Larry Gene Smalley and wife Kathie of Harrisonville, Missouri; one daughter Deborah “Deb” Kay Hess of Hume, Missouri; three sisters, Ella Mae Macinch of Peculiar, Missouri, Faye Mitchell of Adrian, Missouri and Carol Wilson an dhusband Larry of Tacoma, Washington; two grandchildren, Jess Smalley and wife Michele of Harrisonville, Missouri and Justin Smalley and wife Erin of Springfield, Missouri and six great-grandchildren, Rylee, Alexandria, Lucas, Kennedy, Caitlyn and Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ronda Ranay Smalley; and three sisters, Wilma Armintrout, Hazel Jeter and Helen Ebeck.
