Minor injuries for Butler man in accident near Taberville

Just before noon today, Wendell Harris, 64, sustained minor injuries in an accident on H highway 1/2 mile south of Taberville in St. Clair county. Harris was riding a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle when he was distracted, causing him to lock the brakes and lose control. He was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Spaghetti for the Starz Dinner and Show this evening

Road closure reminder...

If you head south on Business 71 in Butler you'll find this sign reminding you that the ramp to South 71 Highway is closed for bridge reconstruction. Rice Road is also closed at the city limit sign; access to the bowling alley and homes will remain open. The bridge project is expected to be completed later this summer.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northwestern Bates County

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northwestern Bates County to be in effect until 10:05 p.m. The storm is capable of producing quarter size hail and heavy rain.

Large grass fire near Virginia

8:21 p.m. - Amoret and Amsterdam fire departments are in route to a large grass fire on the north side  of 52 highway, just east of Virginia. Heavy smoke is reported, causing limited visibility for those driving on the highway. Use caution and watch for emergency equipment if traveling through the area.

Car into tree in northwest Bates County

5:16 pm - Authorities are responding to a report of a car into a tree just west of where FF highway ends northwest of Adrian. Injuries are reported to be minor at this time.
