Obituary - Helen Howell

Helen Lucille Howell, 69, Harrisonville, MO, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 22 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville with visitation from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helen Howell Memorial Fund, c/o Atkinson Funeral Home.

Helen was born July 10, 1941 in Harrisonville, MO, the daughter of Elmer and Betty (Drehle) Street. She married Joseph C. Howell on May 24, 1982 in Rich Hill, MO.

Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed being a mother to everyone. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Grace Tabernacle in Harrisonville.

Helen was preceded in death by her father, a son, James “Jimmy” Parris, a brother, Carl Street and a sister, Joyce Stephens. She is survived by her husband, Joseph, of the home; six sons, Ricky Parris and wife, Sheila, Belton, MO, Doug Bowie and wife, Angela, Harrisonville, MO, Jack Bearce and wife, Crystal, Butler, MO, David Sanders, Harrisonville, MO, Chad Anderson and wife, Courtney, Butler, MO, Adrian Howell and Brittany Graham, Harrisonville, MO; two daughters, Marsha Parris, Grandview, MO and Debbie Feugate and husband, Fred, Harrisonville, MO; one step-daughter, Samantha Copeland, Macon, GA; her mother, Betty Street, Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Roy Street, Harrisonville, MO; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Butler FBLA students attend state leadership conference

Over 2,700 Missouri high school students and teachers assembled in Columbia, April 17-19, for the 52nd Annual Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference. FBLA members from Butler included Heather Lane, Natoshia Minor, Cheyenne Lesmeister, and Nathan McGuire. Heather Lane received 10th Place honors in Accounting II and Nathan McGuire received 5th Place honors in Computer Problem Solving.

“Big Government Get Off My Back Act” Handled by Sen. Pearce Moves Forward
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, this week ushered House Bill 45 through the Senate, a measure which would extend the time frame found in the 2009 “Big Government Get Off My Back Act” by one year, as well as further define the terms full-time employee and new job. It passed in the Senate with a vote of 34-0.

The annual Butler Public Library book sale is set for June 1st through 3rd daily 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sneak preview will be May 31st from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The dates are also posted on the County Wide Calendar on the Bates County Live home page.
