Heavy damage to McBee's store in early morning theft

Sometime after midnight thieves drove a vehicle, possibly a pickup truck, through the front doors at McBee's Store in Amsterdam in an apparent smash-and-grab robbery. The suspect vehicle was last seen heading westbound towards Kansas where the subjects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. It is unknown if Kansas authorities were able to locate the suspects.

Two cash registers from the store were recovered from the vehicle, while the ATM was left behind. More information is expected to be released in the near future; right now the McBees are in the long and tedious process of clean up and planning repairs.

Local author needs your help to finish book

1976 was the first year that the Butler Lady Bears played 5 on 5 full court basketball. Shannon Geford and his history committee are trying to piece together as much information as possible about the history of the Lady Bears.

Since the last request they have received quite a bit of helpful information to help fill in some of the gaps. Unfortunately, still more info is needed.

If you have any information about the Butler Lady Bears, please contact Shannon Gepford at gepford5@hotmail.com or call him at 816-522-8930. Information is really needed for the years of 1990-2009. Individual and team statistics along with postseason honors for individuals would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help in making this a complete Butler Lady Bears History book.
