Butler Youth Center to reopen in September

Starting in September on Tuesdays and Thursday, 75-80 kids will fill the Butler Youth Center at the old high school. While preparations for the 18th year are going smoothly, Kris Jenkins, president of the BCYAC, says that the Center has many needs. “That many kids takes a great deal of basic supplies. Just think what you need for a family of 5 and then multiply that by 15!”

The Center which operates totally on free will donations would appreciate the help of the community and businesses. “While there is a constant need for financial donations to help pay our staff, there are many other ways you can help,” said Jenkins.

Authorities searching for reported accident

11:04 a.m. - A 911 call has local police and fire departments looking for a car accident where the caller may have been disoriented- describing the location to be near a creek by a water plant or some type of pumping station.

Currently Butler, Rich Hill, Amsterdam and Adrian have units searching the area for what was said to be a rollover accident.

Tough luck for Lady Bears

Tuesday night the Lady Bears softball team lost to Lamar 1-6. Even through the loss, the girls are showing a great deal of improvement over last season. Tori Stauffacher pitched a solid game. She struck out 1 and only walked 3. In 10 hits, Lamar was only allowed 4 earned runs. Offensively, the girls struggled; however, Beth Coleman delivered the team's only run in the bottom of the 7th inning with a solo homerun hit deep into the left field corner.

The JV Lady Bears tied 6-6 in a 3 inning game.

Local entrepreneur to open full service sporting supply store

So you're into hunting fishing or camping and already know the local big chain stores might have what you need but it's a long drive to get there. Your next option is to order on line but you also know it's better to be able to look at and touch the items to insure that it's exactly what you're looking for... the whole process can be a real dilemma.

Problem solved. Sporting Supply is located in Harrisonville (a short drive) and besides a phenomenal selection, you can expect great service as it is locally co-owned by Brandon Plunkett of Butler along with Tom Addleman and Troy Englehardt.
