Butler solar farm project on hold

Notes from the Butler City Council meeting Tuesday evening:

The Butler City Council has decided that Butler's Christmas lights be turned on December 7th...the same evening as the Christmas Parade. This will add to the Christmas Parade's glamour...always a high-light of the season.

In other Council news, that Visioning Committee from Drury University in Springfield, means business. They are showing that the study they're making to help improve Butler, is not just a school class project.
As we told you after a recent meeting, they are studying our community and are coming up with good ideas, such as a community center, but also of the need for a grocery in the downtown area, and other constructive thinking.

You might have noticed...

that there are two page counters at the bottom of the Bates County Live home page. One shows 37x,xxx and the other 42x,xxx. We recently discovered that the original 37x,xxx counter only increments when someone actually goes to the BatesCountyLive.com home page-  however, that counter does not increment correctly when someone links in from say, our Facebook page or other sources.

Confused yet? We were. After some investigation we discovered a somewhat hidden, embedded counter (shown on the right) that shows the real total of hits on the site, regardless of where they came from. As of today, the total all time hits is shown as 432,514 which is substantially more than the 37x,xxx currently shown on our page counter.

So we are experimenting with the 42x,xxx counter in an attempt to show the true number of all hits on the bottom of our home page. Not as to brag in any way, but to show our potential advertisers a very accurate volume of our web traffic (point being that regardless of where someone lands on our site, advertising is always visible).

This graph shows 371 hits from Facebook yesterday. Unfortunately, those hits were not recorded on the
hit counter at the bottom of our home page.

Still confused? Don't worry, just know that we were happy to discover that the site has actually got more hits than we thought and wanted to thank everyone for their continued support!
