Butler Police Department weekly report

Sept. 27 - Alarm in the 500 block of N. Henry; C&I driver at Sonic; keep the peace in the 100 block of S. Main; well being check in the 600 block of S. Broadway; subject with gun in the 300 block of N. Water; suspicious person in the 300 block of S. Main; possible prowler in the 800 block of S. Birch.

Senior Center Fall Festival this Sunday...

Come and support the Bates County Senior Centers Fall Festival this Sunday at the Bates County Fairgrounds Youth building...

All you can eat lunch begins at 11 a.m. featuring smoked chicken, pork, baked beans, slaw, homemade bread, dessert and drink for a free will donation.

Live music by Irene Holt starts at 11:30 with the Theme Basket Auction at 12:30- proceeds to benefit services for Bates County Seniors offered by the Butler Senior Center.

Don't forget starting Tuesday, Nov. 1st, the Butler Senior Center will be having dinner and Dirty Bingo regularly on the first Tuesday of each month.

Miami has joined forces with Drexel Football and will be playing Friday evening against Northeast High School in Drexel at 7 p.m.

Drexel will play Northeast High School Friday night at 7:00. Crowning of the King and Queen will be at halftime. 

Homecoming Dance will be held at the Community Building from 10:00-12:00 on October 7th. Cost is $3.00 per person.

New look for Adrian City Hall

Open house was held this evening to show off the newly remodeled Adrian City Hall. Those visiting were quick to notice new flooring, paint, a remodeled bathroom, dining room and more. Some of the work done is not visible to the naked eye, which includes some plumbing and wiring updates.

The project was recently completed and proudly shown at the open house held before tonight's council meeting.

Obituary - Alfred Kennedy

Funeral services for Alfred Kennedy will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Pastor Charles Mathis officiating and Marla Kash assisting. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Missouri. Contributions to Friendship Full Gospel or Trinity Tribesmen.

Alfred Larry Kennedy, age 68 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, October 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born June 29, 1943 to Charles Thomas and Evelyn Leona Hewitt Kennedy in Rich Hill, Missouri.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Lois Kennedy of Butler, Missouri; a son, Timothy Kennedy and wife Ginny of Grandview, Missouri; two daughters, Michelle Seaton of Butler, Missouri and Aimee Pierce and husband Doug of Nevada, Missouri; two brothers, Charles Kennedy and wife Karen of Butler, Missouri and Gary Kennedy and wife Peggy of Adrian, Missouri; two sisters, Estella Baker of Rich Hill, Missouri and Ruth Shok and husband David of Noblesville, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Paul Kennedy-Stokes and Christine Chapdelaine. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Esther.

Poplar Heights Picnic Challenge cancelled..

It has been reported that the Poplar Heights Picnic Challenge originally scheduled for this Saturday Oct. 8th has been cancelled. We will provide further information when/if it is rescheduled.
