Obituary - Virginia Mizner

Funeral services for Virginia Mizner will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. No visitation. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Butler Senior Center or Bates County Food Pantry.

Virginia Florence Mizner, age 98 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, October 17, 2011 in Butler. She was born March 2, 1913 to James Daniel and Edith Rebecca Palm Eckert in Bates County, Missouri.

Virginia is survived by her son, Virgil Mizner of Belton, Missouri; a daughter, Mildred Mizner of Archie, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Eckert and J.L. Eckert and wife Kathleen, all of Butler, Missouri; four grandchildren, Robbi Mizner and wife Joan, Randi Mizner, Staci Smith and Shani Mizner; six great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rodney Mizner; one brother, Frank; and a sister, Marjorie Henley.

With a little help from their friends, the Butler Community Food Pantry now has a web site that can be found at www.batescountypantry.org.

The page, still under construction, features the latest news from the pantry and will also provide information regarding distribution dates, contact info and more. There's even a handy map to get you to their location at 709 W. Ohio St. in Butler.

Harvey plea hearing Oct. 24th

Raymond Harvey is scheduled for a plea hearing on Monday, Oct. 24th in the Henry County Circuit Court in Clinton. The hearing will take place at 1:30 p.m. at 100 W. Franklin St. in Clinton, Mo. Anyone attending should plan on arriving early.

Harvey is charged with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and one count of arson. Raymond accused of the murder of Brandee Bickelman age 35 and her daughter Bailey Bickelman of Butler.

3 car accident in Butler

9:00 a.m. - Butler Fire and Bates County EMS are headed to the scene of a three car accident on Business 71 Highway just North of Nursery street in Butler. Injuries are unknown; use caution or find an alternate route if traveling through the area.
