Relay for Life kickoff party just a few weeks away

Relay for Life 2012 has been set for June 9th next year and will be held on the Butler Square. The theme will be, “ Relay Around the World”. The 2012 Relay for Life Kickoff party will be held Sunday. November 13th at the Adrian Optimist Building.

The Quarter Mania Auction will allow you to place a bid on donated items for a price of 25 cents per bid. Winners will be announced following the lunch and you must be present to win.

The Relay for Life 2012 kickoff party will feature lasagna, green beans, salad, drink and a cookie for a free will donation. Serving will be from 11:30 until 1 p.m.

All proceeds will go toward the 2012 Bates county Relay for Life Event to be held on June 9th.

Rich Hill resident to be honored Wednesday...

Rick Jageles of Rich Hill will officially be the 'man of the hour' this Wednesday Oct. 26th as he will be honored as the Most Outstanding Older Worker in the West Central Region. Jageles, 61, is being honored by Experience Works for his never ending energy and dedication as a youth specialist in Rich Hill.

Experience Works is a national, charitable, community-based organization that helps those over age 55 get the training they need to find good jobs in their communities. For more than 40 years they have been devoted to helping people break out of poverty and reclaim their lives and dignity through work.

The public is invited to attend the celebration starting at 2 p.m. along with a representative from Congresswoman Vicki Hartzler's office, Senator David Pearce and Rep. Barney Fisher who will be in attendance. The Mayor of Rich Hill will have the honors in presenting Mr. Jageles with the distinction of being the Most Outstanding Older Worker in the West Central Region.

TRESPASSING-ADRIAN Deputies were dispatched to a residence north of Ballard in reference to a boat that was dumped on a property.

THEFT-BUTLER Deputies responded to tow lot on Business 71 reference theft that had just occurred.

Location change for the Bates County Women's Democratic Club meeting...

Because of uncertain weather conditions, the Bates County Women’s Democratic Club has changed the location of its Thursday, October 27 meeting from Poplar Heights to the Butler Senior Center. Potluck supper will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Hume carnival this Friday

The Hume PTO School Carnival is slated for Friday October 28th in the Hume High School Gym. The Carnival will start at 5:30 with the crowning at 8:30. The Hume PTO Carnival will feature food booths, kids games a cake walk and the senior country store. Everyone is welcome to attend the October 28th Hume PTO School Carnival.
