Sue Clark retires after four decades at BCMH
Rich Hill couple injured in Hickory county accident
Kelly Curbow, 42, and Raymond Curbow, 46, both of Rich Hill, sustained moderate injuries in a multi vehicle accident yesterday near Preston, Mo. According to MSHP trooper Mike Murrill, the Curbow vehicle was passing another vehicle and struck a 2006 Chrysler driven by Deborah Porrett, 58, of Edwards, Mo. head on. The Curbow vehicle then slid off the roadway and struck a 2005 Chevrolet owned by Darrel D. Fox, 52, of Clinton. Fox was not injured.
The Curbows along with Porrett were airlifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield for treatment. The report shows that all occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident

Obituary - Nancy Wisdom Schmidt
Memorial services for Nancy Ellen Wisdom Schmidt will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Pastor Tom Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 12 noon - 1 p.m. Inurnment at Green Valley Cemetery, Pleasanton, Kansas. Contributions to American Diabetes Association.
Nancy Ellen Schmidt, age 61 of Amoret, Missouri died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at her home in Amoret. She was born January 19, 1950 to Harry Otis and Olinea Nadine Chamberlain Wisdom in Worland, Missouri.
Nancy is survived by five sons, Glenn Allen Wisdom and wife Sherri of Kansas City, Missouri, Jerry Bradley and fiance` Julie Courtney West of Butler, Missouri, Donald Bradley of Oklahoma, Joshua Bradley of Amoret, Missouri and Billy Jo Bradley of Clinton, Missouri; four brothers, Charley Aaron Wisdom and Arthur Ray Wisdom of Hume, Missouri, Home Lee Wisdom and wife Delores of Mapleton, Kansas and Harry Otis Wisdom Jr. and wife Meda of Mound City, Kansas; four sisters, Lillie Rose Hill of Nevada, Missouri, Edith Kirbey of Butler, Missouri, Ida Kaufman and husband Roger of Amsterdam, Missouri and Susan Lynn Parker of Pleasanton, Kansas; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Schmidt; and one brother, Richard Allen Wisdom.

Gary is survived by his mother, Pam Freling and husband Don of Shawnee, Kansas; one sister, Diana King and husband Eric of Lenexa, Kansas; two nephews, Ryan and Joshua; and two nieces, Rachel and Paige. He was preceded in death by his father.

Reward offered in equipment theft
A recent theft in the Ballard-Urich area has left a victim with an estimated $20,000 loss in construction tools and scrap metal on or around Oct. 10th, and the Bates County Sheriff's Department is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Rick Jagels honored in Rich Hill today
An enthusiastic crowd was on hand at the Rich Hill Youth Development Center as well as county and state dignitaries to honor Rick Jagels, who was named the “Most Outstanding Older Worker” of Region 8 in Missouri. He was honored by Experience Works which is a national, charitable, community based organization that helps people over the age of 55 get the training they need to find jobs in their communities.
Jagels, who serves as a youth supervisor and has the responsibility for the safety, personal conduct, care and therapy of the youth during a shift, he implements group and individual treatment plans as well as maintaining security in the buildings, grounds and other posts. He also intervenes during emergencies or altercations to prevent escapes and gain physical control of the youth.
Those presenting plaques to Mr. Jagels this afternoon were Senator David Pearce, Representative Barney Fischer, the Bates County Commissioners and Jimmy Kithcart, Mayor of Rich Hill proclaimed October 26th as “Rick Jagels” day.
