Fall from bridge ruled accidental

From the Bates County Sheriff's Department:

On Saturday December 10, 2011 at apx. 1730 hrs the Bates County Sheriff’s assisted the Bates County Memorial Hospital, on a male subject that had fallen off a bridge accidental. Male subject was treated on scene and lifeflighted to a Hospital in Kansas City. The situation was ruled an accident and no report taken by the Bates County Sheriff’s Office.



Obituary - Jesse Landon

Graveside services for Jess Ray Landon will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Woodfin Cemetery near Foster, Missouri with Brother Bill Perkey officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Toys For Tots.

Jesse Ray Landon, age 76 of Liberty, Missouri died Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty. He was born October 25, 1935 to Harry Lee and Ruth Vaughn Landon in Foster, Missouri.

Jesse is survived by two sons, Steve Landon of Denver, Colorado and Rick Landon and wife Joyce of Parkville, Missouri; a daughter, Karen Naugle and husband Rodger of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; twin sister, Bessie Fay McCoun and husband Sam of Rich Hill, Missouri; and 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sharron Kay Landon.

Adrian man in ATV accident near Truman lake

Around 6 p.m. last night 72 year old John D. Craig  of Adrian was hurt in an ATV accident just south of SE 700 road near Truman Lake. According to the MSHP report Craig was riding a Honda ATV that overturned on him while climbing a hill while riding in the area.

He has transported by air ambulance to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence for treatment of moderate injuries.

Amsterdam woman in Johnson County crash

An Amsterdam woman received minor injuries this morning in a two car accident at the intersection of 13 and Y highways in Johnson County Mo. A 2005 Chevrolet driven by Dawna E. Hunter, 49, of Amsterdam collided with a 2006 Kia driven by Donna S. Osman, 53, of Clinton at the intersection around 9:12 this morning.

Dawna Hunter was transported by ambulance to the Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment; Donna Osman also received minor injuries in the accident and refused treatment at the scene.
