While details have not yet been confirmed, it appears that authorities are in search of suspects in an apparent robbery that took place in Adrian overnight or early this morning. Around 6:30 a.m. the Bates County Sheriff's Department, Adrian Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol were seen at the Happy Go Lucky gas station in Adrian and at a location on Eight street apparently looking for at least two subjects involved.
More information will be made available is it is released from the Bates County Sheriff's Department.

Strong start for BHS Speech and Drama team...
The BHS Speech and Drama team opened its season in Harrisonville, Saturday. All three of our contestants reached finals, with Dalton Fischer claiming the 6th place trophy in Radio Speaking, and the Duet Acting team of Caleb Martin and Tasha Vance also placing 6th. This was not only the first meet of this season for BHS, but also the first meet ever for these three contestants. Our next action is at Lexington on January 7th.

Obituary - Paul Young
Funeral services for Paul Young will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Marcus Cumpton and Doug Gibson officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri. Contributions to Pleasant Gap Christian Church.
Harry Paul Young, age 87, of Spruce, Missouri died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at St. Joespeh Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife and son by his side. He was born June 23, 1924 to William and Mary Loretta Charters Young in Spruce, Missouri.
Paul is survived by his wife, Maxine Young of Spruce, Missouri; and Paul Allen Young and wife Lila of Higginsville, Missouri; one stepgranddaughter, Elizabeth Dier and husband Brett; and three step great-grandchildren, Eric, D.J. and Katelyn; brother-in-law, Ray Culver; and nephews, nieces and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William Young Jr.; two sisters, Mabelle Reiser and Johnnie Helen Kedigh; and one grandson, Matthew Allen Young.

Corner Hardware celebrating 31 years in business
Corner Hardware in Butler now in its 31st year, will host a customer appreciation day this Tuesday, Dec. 20th. The store has been under the management of the late Don Stotmeister and his wife Ruby since 1980. Corner Hardware is currently managed by Ruby Stotmeister, Dennis and Kim Jacobs. Museum documents to be digitally preserved
Digital Scanning of Museum Documents
The Kansas City Public Library’s plans for a new research website continue to move forward. The project, “Missouri-Kansas Conflict: Civil War on the Western Missouri Border 1854-1865” is now in the second phase and onsite scanning of documents to be included on the website has begun. On Tuesday, December 13, 2011, Hannah Ballard, Project Coordinator, Kansas City Public Library, and Heather Richmond, Digital Collections Coordinator, Missouri State Library, Jefferson City, visited the Bates County Museum to scan several documents that had previously been selected for use in the website.
