Details released in fugitive arrest

Last Friday the Bates County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol who was in a pursuit of a vehicle on 71 Hwy. The pursuit exited off 71 hwy onto 52 east where the suspect struck a Highway Patrol Officer’s vehicle. The pursuit continued on east 52 hwy until the suspect ran off the roadway into a field between YY Hwy and N Hwy. The vehicle continued to drive through multiple fences until wrecking into a ditch. The suspect then ran from the vehicle on foot.

Timothy C. Keagy
A perimeter was set up and a search with the Bates County Sheriff’s K9 unit began. The Highway Patrol brought their airplane out of Kansas City to assist in the search. After approximately 4 hours the search was called off because there was no sign the suspect was still in the area.

On Saturday the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident in the area advising that a male subject was walking down the fence row. The resident made contact with the subject and attempted to keep him there until deputies arrived. Once the subject saw the patrol vehicle coming down the gravel road he ran on foot toward the tree line. An all officer call out was made to begin a search again. Within an hour the subject was located in a tree line and taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as Timothy C Keagy of Kansas City Mo. The suspect was wanted on multiple warrants with no bonds.

Charges will be pending in Bates County.
