Funeral services for Charles Robertson will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Dr. Terry Davis officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 10-11 a.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Salvation Army, Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.
Charles Lee Robertson, age 80 of Butler, Missouri, formerly of Albany, Missouri died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Maple Senior Living in Butler. He was born November 22, 1931 to Stanley Porter and Thelma Irene Pearman Robertson in Gentry County, Missouri.
Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Elaine Robertson of Butler, Missouri; one son, Steven Robertson of St. Joseph, Missouri; two daughters, Carol Hayes and husband Alan of Butler, Missouri and Mary Floyd and husband Jeff of Columbia, Missouri; two brothers, Vincent Rex Robertson and wife Betty of Omaha, Nebraska and John Robertson and wife Joan of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and nephews, nieces and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Charles Dean Robertson.

Museum Meeting & Show 'n Tell this weekend

This Saturday, February 4th, at 10:00 am is the Bates County Historical Society & Museum's Annual Meeting and Show 'n Tell Program. A free will offering Soup & Chili Dinner will be served following the program. We will gather in Robertson Hall at the Museum. (802 Elks Drive, Butler, Missouri)
The Show 'n Tell Program is always entertaining and educational. Sometimes folks are even able to identify antique 'mystery' pieces. If you have something to share, or want to see what others have brought, come be with us on Saturday. We hope to see you there...!!!

Birth control recall
It has been confirmed with West Central Missouri Community Action Agency the following news release:
Pfizer said on Tuesday it was recalling about 1 million packets of birth control pills in the United States because they may not contain enough contraceptive to prevent pregnancy.
Pfizer said the birth control pills posed no health threat to women but it urged consumers affected by the recall to "begin using a non-hormonal form of contraception immediately."
The drug maker said the issue involved 14 lots of Lo/Ovral-28 tablets and 14 lots of Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets.
It said an investigation had found that some blister packs of the oral contraceptive might contain an inexact count of inert or active ingredients in the tablets.

Job training program offered...
The Community Food Pantry is starting a "Job Training Program". This program offers two hours of classroom time per week, and 4 hours of on the job training per week. Classroom time is held on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. This program is offered at no charge. Space is limited, but classes will rotate every 10 weeks. New I-49 Signs Being Installed Along U.S. 71
Southwest District -- A project to install new Interstate 49 signs is beginning along U.S. 71 between McDonald County Route H in Pineville and I-435 on the south edge of Kansas City, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The signing project will require lane closings at times where the work is taking place in McDonald, Newton, Jasper, Barton, Vernon, Bates, Cass and southern Jackson counties.

Annual Ducks Unlimited membership dinner set for Feb. 18th
The 2012 Bates County Ducks Unlimited annual membership dinner is all set for Feb. 18th at the Adrian Optimist building with social hour starting at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to to come and learn more about building and preserving our wetlands for our children and future generations.
Dinner will start at 7 p.m. to be followed by a silent auction, games, a live auction and more. All proceeds to benefit our wetland conservation projects.
