Attention Adrian residents...
There will be testing the storm siren in the alley by the First Baptist Church in Adrian around 5 p.m. this evening. The testing will be for this siren only, not city wide.
Bridge replacements and road closures coming soon...
As part of MoDot's ongoing Safe and Sound program, three more bridges are set to be replaced within the next couple of months causing some to find a new route around the construction:
• Route 18, Miami Creek (east of Merwin) - construction beginning March 26th
All three bridges were built in the late 1940's and besides being too narrow (by todays standards), are showing signs of serious deterioration.
Both bridges on 18 highway are expected to be closed for about 35 days, while the route H bridge is expected to be closed for an estimated 50 days- of course Spring weather may hamper construction time as well...

Accident west of Passaic this morning
Minor injuries were reported in a single car accident just before 7 a.m. today about 6.5 miles west of Passaic on F highway. It was reported that the vehicle left the roadway, traveled down a large ravine and overturned.
Both Adrian and Butler fire/rescue was summoned to free the driver who was reported to be trapped in the vehicle.
Name of driver and further details will be posted when the official report from the Missouri Highway Patrol is released.
Step Up to Leadership in Bates County
The Step Up to Leadership Program is an award-winning leadership training program, offering individuals who want to make a difference the opportunity to learn what it takes to serve on nonprofit boards, become active in community projects, volunteer for charitable causes and empower others to succeed.
Step Up to Leadership is a 12 week course that will start Monday, April 16, 2012 at 5:00 pm. The classes will be held at the Kern Senior Center, Rich Hill, MO. To allow for maximum participation in the leadership training, incentives to the class include a light supper and a stipend to help participants with childcare and traveling expenses. Among the 12 week sessions, topics will include: Come As You Are, Planning For Your Passion, Team Up, Understanding and Embracing Diversity, All Aboard The Legalities And The Practicalities, Meeting Manners And Matters, Conflict As Opportunity, Speak Up And Speak Out, Funding The Way With Grants And Stepping Out.
