$100k in meth seized- two arrested

Two pounds of meth valued at $100,000 was seized on April 9
in Vernon county 
On April 9th members of the Bates County Sheriff’s Office, Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and the CNET Drug Task Force concluded a month long narcotics investigation that ended with two arrests in the parking lot of Walmart in Nevada, MO.

Agents seized two pounds of pure methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $100,000.00. The methamphetamine was being delivered to a local dealer that would have put the methamphetamine in circulation in our area.

CNET is a drug task force that covers the areas of Bates, Vernon, St. Clair, Cedar and Dade counties. CNET is funded through grants from the Department of Justice and by pooling agency funds together.

Relay for Life book drive...

Relay for Life “Team Educate” is having a book drive and collecting any new or used books which will be used in a book sale that will be held on April 28th. All books collected will help benefit the American Cancer Society and Team Educate will accept any books for age birth thru adult. The only books they will not take are encyclopedias or textbooks.

If you have any books that you would like to donate please call Amy McVey at 660-200-2009 for book pick-up. Drop off bins are located at the Butler and Adrian schools for your convenience.

Obituary - Bobby "Bob" Moles

Bobby “Bob” Woodrow Moles, 85, Adrian, MO, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Adrian Manor. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Adrian. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Adrian Manor.

Obituary - Juanita Nestlerode

Graveside services for Juanita Nestlerode will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 1-2 p.m. at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Heartland Hospice. 

Juanita Florence Nestlerode, age 87 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Willow Lane Nursing Center in Butler. She was born April 16, 1925 to Charles Newman and Josephine Anna Florence Short Howell in Bates County, Missouri. Juanita is survived by three grandsons, Raymond Moise and wife Brandi of Butler, Missouri, Aaron Kelly Mosie and wife Jerri and Patrick Moise of Drexel, Missouri; one brother, Paul Howell of Clinton, Missouri; one sister, Shirley Schimmelpfenning and husband Roy of Harrisonville, Missouri; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Moise; and four brothers.

Bears Spring Break track meet results

Obituary - Helen McLay

Helen Elayne McLay, age 59 of De Beque, Colorado, formerly of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was born August 17, 1952 to Ora Lewis and Helen Lorene Lord West in Bates County, Missouri. 

Helen is survived by her husband, Jim McLay; her mother, Charlene West; two brothers, Michael and wife Jeanie and Wayne and wife Cheryl; one sister, Tammy and husband Roger; two sons, Justin and wife Bobbi and Jimmy and wife Kim; two daughters, Candi and Michelle and husband Bobby; grandchildren, Aaron and Adam, Hannah and Cayden, Nikki, Brad, Josh, James, Joey, Jackie, Jillie, Jesse, Gus, Tia and Kyle; a niece, Mousie; two nephews, Eddie and Jerry; and great-grandchildren, Brunson, Kayden, Reagan, Ryan and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
