The grandstands were full for the final night of the 2012 Butler Saddle Club rodeo as the evening offered quality family entertainment and non stop action. In speaking with some in the crowd, the evening was easily deemed as "one of the best yet" thanks to Barnes & Sons Rodeo Productions of Tahlequah, Oklahoma offering plenty of barrel racing, calf and team roping, bronc riding, bull riding and fun to boot (no pun intended!).

It's all about speed, skills and just plain strength
| Coco Perrymann of the Amsterdam fire department quickly ties a knot so other team members can a advance in the "Knots in a hat" drill |
"It was sure fun, but I'm worn out!" said Becky Welch of the Amsterdam Fire Department following the first ever, Butler Firefighter Challenge held today. Becky did something today that most people don't do in their lifetime- she helped pull a 14 ton fire truck some 10 feet with the help of three other firefighters. And that's not all.
Becky was one of about 20 firefighters from around the county who came to show their skills, strength and speed in the challenge that was held in the parking lot of Wilson Tire in Butler.
The challenges ranged from knot tying, hose rolling, fire truck pumping operations, suiting up the fastest and much more in front of a crowd who came to cheer them on.
The reward for being tired, sweaty and just plain worn out? The 3 foot tall traveling trophy as shown here.
1st Place was Butler Fire Department, 2nd - Adrian Fire Department, 3rd place - Amsterdam Fire Department.
| Each team had to pull a 27,000 lb fire truck 10 feet as part of the "Knots in a hat" drill during the 1st annual Butler Firefighter Challenge held in Butler today. |
