Miami Creek bridge closer to completion...

With the old bridge completely removed, forms are in place to begin pouring concrete for the new Miami Creek bridge west of Butler. The project is on track to be completed around August 9th of this year. - Terry Payne photo

No burning within Adrian city limits

The city of Adrian has put in effect a “NO BURN BAN” within the city limits of Adrian until further notice or until measurable rain fall. The Adrian Fire Department is also encouraging those outside the city limits to not burn as well due to the extremely dry conditions.

Note the city of Butler remains under a burn ban until further notice as well.

Hume Fair and Rodeo coming soon!

The 70th Annual Hume Fair and Rodeo kicks off Tuesday July 31st with a 6:30 p.m. Ham and Bean Feed in the Arena, followed by the Draft Horse Pull… on Wednesday in Hume the Ice Cream social will be held in the Hume City Park, you are asked to bring home-made ice cream or a dessert, this event will be followed by the 7 p.m. Gospel Sing at the Hume Bandstand, followed by the County Line 4-H Bingo. 

Mark your calendar for the scheduled events to continue Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the baby contest at 8:30 am and parade lineup at the Methodist church parking Lot at 10:45 am on Saturday. This year’s theme is "Celebrating 70 years of Hume Fair and Rodeo". The call in number for Hume Rodeo contestants will be 816-331-1792, the call in date is set for Monday July 30th from 1 to 6 p.m. on FM 92.1 radio.

Meet Scott Largent July 20th

Everyone is invited to attend the Scott Largent Fundraising Dinner Friday July 20th at the Butler Senior Center. The meal will be catered and will cost $15.00 per person. Contributions will be accepted and appreciated.
