Adrian man behind bars after assault on Jasper County detective

Tyler Havens
The Bates County Sheriff's Office now has Tyler Havens, 19, in custody. Havens, whose last known address was in Adrian, now faces charges in two counties after an altercation with a police detective.

Authorities had been looking for Havens, who had active warrants in Bates County for probation violation. He now faces another set of charges as a Jasper County detective was questioning him in an identity theft case on August 16th and during questioning, the detective says Havens shoved him into a wall and hit him. The officer was treated for minor injuries.

Havens also faces charges of assault on a police officer, fleeing arrest, and endangering the welfare of a child.

It's unclear at this time if he will have to face the Bates County charges before being sent back to Jasper County.
