Veteran's Day Celebration set for Friday at Miami School

Veteran's, families, friends and the community are invited to the Miami School this Friday, November 9th at 9 a.m. to honor those who serve or have served in our Armed Forces.

The celebration will be held in the high school gym. All veteran's, active service men and women are invited to attend at reception be held beginning at 8:15 a.m.

This will be an opportunity to help teach our students the pride of serving our country. If you have photos that you would like to share, we'd like to include them in our video presentation. Call the school at 660-267-3484 for more information.

No school at Ballard tomorrow

Ballard School will not have school on Wednesday, November 7th due to a power outage. They anticipate school to be back in session on Thursday.

Amoret family loses home in fire; donations needed

A mother, a companion and her two children are without a home today after a raging fire destroyed everything in its path. Firefighters were called to the home in Amoret Missouri at 4:00 Tuesday morning. Krista Bradley and her two little girl’s ages four and six need our donations. The family is residing at the Days Inn Motel in Butler, where donations may be delivered .The family is without clothing or basic hygiene items .

 For four year old, Aubrey is in need of clothing in the size of 4T and size 10 shoes. For six year old Shayla, is in need of clothing in the children sizes of eight to ten and shoes in size one to two.
The mother Krista, is in need of clothing in sizes 3X shirts, size 26 pants and shoes women’s size six or seven.

 James is in need of clothing in size 36 waist and 34 length in jeans or pants and shirt size Xl and shoe size 12.

 If you would like to help this family by donating clothing or basic hygiene products, such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, combs and hair brushes or toothpaste. You may drop off these items here at our 92-1 studios at 800 E Nursery Street in Butler, until 9 PM this evening (11/6/2012) or at the Days Inn Motel on Highway 52 West in Butler .

 All donations will be appreciated.

BREAKDOWN OF NEEDS:
Mother: 3X Shirts, 26 pants and 6 or 7 size shoes
Companion : jeans 36 waist 34 length, shirt size XL Shoes size 12
4 year old: Size 4T cloths and size 10 shoes
6 year old: Size 8-10 cloths and size 1-2 shoes
Also, basic hygiene items for all

Lady Bears dominate in first round tournament action

Last night the Jr High Lady Bears B-team traveled to Hume for first round tournament action. The bears were victorious over the NEVC knights 21-6. Well done lady bears.

Butler Christmas Parade official line up...

Bookmark this page! The Butler Christmas Parade theme this year is “The Songs and Sounds of Christmas” The parade will be Saturday, December 1st at 6:00

 The time line will be as follows:

5:00-Little Miss Snowflake and Mr. Jack Frost crowning ceremony at the bandstand
5:00-line up at the Butler High School.
5:10-lighting ceremony
5:15 Butler Pop Chorus to perform on or near the bandstand
5:30 Judging in the south parking lot of the high school
5:45 Community church service
Around 6:10 the parade should arrive on the square as church service is concluding.
The Butler Chamber of Commerce is looking for contestants for the Little Mr. Jack Frost and Little Miss Snow Flake contest- for more information please contact Jennifer at the Butler Chamber office 660-679-3380 or stop by the Chamber office between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays.

The winners will be crowned December 1st at the Bandstand on the Butler square.
