Hume news

The Hume Community Choir will hold practice on Monday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music room at the Hume School. If you love to sing, please join us and have a lot of fun. The Hume School will be holding a concert in conjunction with Santa Claus coming to Hume in December.

 The 2012 Hume Red and White Scrimmage will be held on Friday, November 16. Baked Potato and all the fixin’s will be served from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for a free will donation. Also from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. there will be a challenging night of Basketball Knockout for all age groups: Starting with Hume K-2nd grade; 3rd-4th grade;5th-6th grade; 7th-9th grade; 10th-12th grade; and adults. The cost will be $2.00 each knockout entry. The evening will finish off at 7:30 p.m. with the introduction of the 2012-2013 Hume Hornet Basketball teams and watch a little scrimmage with the High School and Jr. High Boys and Girls together. Please come out and enjoy the evening and watch a little basketball!

Blood drive coming Nov. 28th

An individual within the area that Community Blood Center serves needs a blood transfusion every 4 minutes. That individual could be your friend, neighbor, or family member. House fire in Adrian

Butler and Adrian Fire departments are on the scene of a house fire in the 100 block of west 6th street in Adrian. Initial reports indicate the structure is heavily involved.

No word yet if anyone was at home when the fire broke out.

Family Care Clinics to be closed for Thanksgiving

The Family Care Clinics of Bates County Memorial Hospital will be closed to observe the Thanksgiving Holiday on November 22, and 23rd.

This includes the Adrian Clinic, Chestnut Street, High Street and Nursery Street locations.

Fall Book Sale reminder...

The Fall Butler Public Library Book Sale will be Friday November 16th from 9:30 to 7:00 pm and again Saturday November 17th from 9:30 to 3:00 pm. All books are one dollar. If you have books to donate, drop them off at the Butler Public Library 100 West Atkinson Street Butler.

Obituary - Albert "Rusty" Bowman

Albert R.(Rusty) Bowman 53, of Kansas City Mo. passed away Wednesday, November 7th 2012. Rusty was born August 19th, 1959 to Joann E. Bowman and the late Harold L. (Bub) Bowman in Aurora, Missouri. Rusty was united in marriage to Viola (Vi) P. Taylor on June 3rd, 1978 in Warsaw Mo. He is survived by his beloved wife Vi, 3 daughters, Beth Ann Fischer and husband Trevor, Heather Bowman and Kevin Wilkey , Pam Williams and James Scarborough. 7 grandchildren, Cole, Chelby, Bella, Mady, Loren, Erin and Wyatt. His mother, Joann Bowman, two sisters, Debbie Bowman and Kevin Blair, Terri Thomas and husband Grady. His mother-in-law, Wilma Taylor and friend Bill. Many aunts, uncles, sister and brother in law’s, nieces, nephews, and cousin’s. He also leaves behind many friends who he always treated as family. Rusty will always be remembered as a loving son, dedicated husband and father and good friend. Rusty loved watching old cowboy movies and his favorite cowboy was John Wayne. If you knew Rusty you knew they were not just movies but a way to live life. Rusty lived the cowboy way. He took pride in working with his hands and doing things right the first time. He was a man of honor, if he gave you his word you could take it to the bank. He was the first one there when hard work was to be done or someone needed a helping hand. He loved to fish and hunt. His life was his family, his daughters were his crowns and his grandchildren his jewels. He will be missed by many. Rusty was a Supervisor for Kansas City Water Services. He was a member of McMurry United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the North Kansas City Eastern Star and Masons.

Masonic services 7:00 pm Visitation 7:30- 8:30 pm Thursday November 15th McMurry United Methodist Church Claycomo, Mo. Second Service Friday November 16th, at 6:00 pm-8:00 pm First Baptist Church Warsaw, Mo.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Rusty at his favorite place, Truman Lake, on Saturday November 17th, 1PM Shenandoah Ave., Warsaw Missouri Donations may be made to the family for a future memorial to be built in Rusty’s honor or a charity of choice. Rusty wishes were to be cremated.
