Calhoun man dies in accident south of Ballard
The Bates County EMS, Bates County Sheriff and The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Adrian Fire and Rescue all responded to a 1 vehicle accident 1 mile south of Ballard on Tuesday evening around 6pm... According to the police report. A 2008 Chevrolet driven by Harry F. House 41, of Calhoun Missouri failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the road way and struck an embankment and over turned. Mr. House was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. Mr. House was pronounced dead on the scene by Bates County Corner Gary Schowengerdt. The scene was investigated by TPR BJ Hamerle and TPR K A Schmutzler. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Adrian Tire.

Butler High School Senior's holding a Clothing Drive
Ms. Alvis's Senior Bear Time is constructing a clothing drive for the Bates County foster parents association..Any clothes age appropriate between newborn and 21yrs of age can be dropped off at the Butler High School office. The clothing drive last from December 3rd Thru December 18th. All clothing must be in great shape no wholes or stains. Donations of tubs would also be greatly appreciated.

Hume News Christmas Celebration December 15th and December 16th
The Hume Community Christmas celebration will be Saturday, December 15th from 4pm -5:30pm at the Hume High school Multi-purpose room. The Hume community choir will be preforming at 4pm and they will be followed by a visit from Santa Claus. Refreshments will be served.
The Hume United Methodist Church will be presenting "The story of Christmas through song". December 16th at 7:30pm. Everyone is invited to attend and fellowship.

Merwin Christian Church Live Nativity 12/09/12
The Merwin Christian Church will host a live nativity scene on December 9th at the church in Merwin. This will begin at 6pm and conclude around 8pm this also includes live actors and animals. Also the Champion 4 Christ kids singers and a birthday for Jesus. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments of cake,cookies, and drinks will be served. Please come out and help them celebrate the birth of the new born king.
FOOD PANTRY COOKBOOKS
After collecting recipes from Bates County friends and neighbors, the Community Food Pantry is now selling personalized cookbook. All of the profits from the book will go to buy food for the pantry which serves almost 400 of Bates County’s neediest families and seniors.
Recipes feature the donors’ name so everyone can easily locate the favorite recipes of their friends and local residents. The cookbook contains 300 recipes and many pages of helpful cooking hints including ways to create a healthier plate.
To help out the pantry several area businesses have agreed to sell the books. You can buy copies in Adrian at Yoss Thriftway, in Rich Hill at Food Fair and in Butler at Country Mart or the Pantry.
The cookbooks will be $10.00 per copy and would make a great Christmas gift!
