OPTIMISTS HOST PADDLE PARTY FOR BRICE EIDSON
Paddle party bidders wave their paddles high
The Butler Optimist Club hosted a Paddle Party as a fundraiser for Brice Eidson on Saturday, December 1 in the Youth Building at the Bates County Fairgrounds. A large crowd of bidders and many auction items provided by local independent vendors made for a fun and lively evening. Those wanting to participate in the auction purchased paddles and as an item was brought up for auction, participants raised their paddles to show that they wanted to make a bid. Buckets were then passed around for the bidders to deposit a quarter for each paddle they were holding up and the bidders’ paddle numbers were placed in another bucket. Then a number was drawn from the bucket and that paddle holder won the auction item.
The Paddle Party was very successful raising $2336.05 for the Brice Eidson fund. The food stand brought in $500. Osage Valley Electric matched the food stand amount. All proceeds were deposited into the Brice Eidson fund at the Adrian Bank. This is yet another example of the how the Butler Optimist Club helps those in the local community. The club meets the second and fourth Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Butler Country Club. Guests and future members are welcome.
