Obituary - Marvin Daye Porter


  Funeral services for Marvin Daye Porter will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Brother Bill Perkey officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to the Family or American Cancer Society


  Marvin Daye Porter, age 62 of Butler, Missouri, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. He was born October 30, 1950 to Marvin Alfred and Ina Loy Snodgrass Porter in Butler.


  Marvin is survived by his wife Teri Porter of Butler, Missouri; four children, son Jesse Jay Porter and wife Jacque and their children Olivia and Sofia of Butler, Missouri; daughter, Valerie Kate Ross and husband Mark and their children Katelyn, Mark George, Cora and Madison all of Springfield, Missouri; daughter Rachel Ethelda Duron and husband Danny and their children Carson Cash and River all of Prairie Village, Kansas; son Marvin A. Porter and wife Crystal and their children Dakota and Jordan all of Butler, Missouri; two brothers, Allen Porter and wife Donna of Butler and Dr. A.J. Porter and wife Judy all of Butler, Missouri; one sister, Ina Mae Thomas and husband Ray of Butler, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jewel Fay White and a cousin, Robert Porter.

Ronald Dean Hammer was born October 18, 1960 to Dean Hammer and Josephine (Blossom) Hammer in Tahlequah, OK.
Ronald grew up in Kansas City and enjoyed spending time in Oklahoma with his Uncle Dave, who nicknamed him “Moon.”  Ronald also enjoyed any type of sports. He spent many years coaching and watching his children. He enjoyed watching Sam in her band concerts and softball games. He supported his children in everything they participated in.  Ronald grew up in a rodeo family, both participating and supporting his family members.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, “Cowboy.”
Ronald had the utmost respect for his father and enjoyed all the experiences they shared together. Family was his main priority in life; his wife, his kids, and his grandkids meant the world to him.
Ronald was preceded in death by mother, and his wife, Kim. He is survived by his father, Dean Hammer and wife Pat, Amoret, Missouri; Selina Fritts and husband Jimmy of Butler; Justin Hammer and wife Natalie of Butler; and Sam Hammer of Butler; brother Ronnie Hammer and wife Mickie of Adrian, Missouri; sister Deanna Barton and husband Gary of Amoret, Missouri; grandchildren Kristen, Jess, J’nessa, Chloe, and Jake; and his faithful companion, “Cowboy.”

Appleton City man hurt in eary morning Rockville Accident

Missouri State Highway Patrol received a call at 1am this morning of a car into a building in Rockville. When they arrived on scene they found a 2004 Hyunai driven by 31 year old Levi Sieleman of Appleton City off the roadway at Osage Ave. and 3rd Street in Rockville. Based on the police report the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway struck a building and then a unoccupied vehicle a 2004 Freightliner. Sieleman was taken by Life Flight Eagle to Research Hospital in Kansas City. The accident was worked by Bates County Sheriff and Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Kansas women injured in wreck on I-49

Around 5pm last night Bates County EMS received a call of a accident 2 miles North of 52 Highway east (3 mile corner)  on I-49 Nancy L Hutton 72 of Prairie Village Kansas received moderate injuries when the 2012 Toyota she was driving traveled off the left side of the roadway over corrected causing the vehicle to go off the right side of the highway and struck a tree. Hutton was taken to Bates County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Don's Tow of Butler. The accident was worked by Bates County Fire and Rescue also Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Obituary - William Vaughn Mullies


Graveside services for William "Bill" Mullies of Hume, Missouri will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Lawrence Cemetery in Hume, Missouri with Reverend Oliver W. Hawk officiating. There is no visitation. Contributions may be made to the charity of choice. Services are under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler.


  William "Bill" Vaughn Mullies, age 90 of Hume, Missouri died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his home in Hume. He was born Febrary 18, 1922 to William Jesse and Norene Vaughn Mullies in Worland, Missouri.


William is survived by a son, Arther Mullies of Hume, Missouri; a brother, Oliver Mullies and wife Melba of Independence, Missouri; a grandson, John Mullies and wife Courtney of Shawnee, Kansas; a granddaughter, Julia Knickerbocker and husband Mark of Westwood, Kansas; two great-grandsons, Adrius and Maximus; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie Mullies; and a sister, Jessie Martin.

Butler Street shut down

  The Butler Water/Street Department will have Mechanic Street from Oak to Atkinson close today so they can repair water lines. If you have to travel in this area plus use a alternate route. No reports of how long it will be closed. Please use caution when traveling in this area
