Boil Water Order in Effect
There is a boil water order advisory for Bates County Water District #7 this is effective until Monday January 28th. The areas included in this boil order are. Pleasant Gap, Papinville, Happy Hill, and Prairie City.

3rd ANNUAL ADRIAN BUSINESS EXPO
The 3rd annual Adrian Business Expo will be held on Saturday, March 2nd from 9am to 3pm at the Adrian Optimist Building. This year’s Expo will have 93 booths for rent and now is the time to call and reserve your space. You do not need to be from Adrian to participate in the Expo.

Birthday Bash for Bryce Eidson
Brice's Birthday Bash fundraiser for Brice Eidson is February 16th at Ballard High School. Freewill donation for fried chicken dinner including green beans, mashed potatoes, dessert and drink starts at 4:30. Then at 7pm the auction starts. Donations so far include a huge toy tractor, bales of hay and a load of rock. If anyone wants to donate desserts or baked goods to be served or auctioned off please bring them in a disposable container. They plan enough to serve about 600 people. Committee for the dinner and desserts is Pam Hill, 660-499-2673 and Elaine Parks 660-351-2040. Committee for the auction is Harry Nitschals 816-297-4447 or Elaine Engelhardt 816-297-2607. Donations are being taken for Brice at the Adrian Bank as well.

Jarrod Blaine O'Connor, 20, Adrian, Missouri, died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery in Amsterdam, Missouri. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jarrod O'Connor Memorial Fund

Butler Quiz Bowl wins conference meet.
Congratulations to the The Butler Quiz Bowl Team for winning the Crossroads Conference Meet on Thursday Night at Van Horn High School. The team consist of Robert Branson, Jayce Teeman, Josh Wright, Gates Bartz, Dalton Fischer, Slate Hayes, Caleb Jett, Daniel Noe, Derek Noe. Good Job Butler Bears.
Obituary - Marcus "Denny" D. Morton
Marcus Demmon (Denny Lee) Morton, 65, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Benchmark Healthcare of Harrisonville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 10:30-11:00. Burial will be in Brady Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Denny was born October 15, 1947 in Dallas County, Missouri, the son of Grover L. and Peggy Lou (Paul) Morton. Denny worked many years at the Cass County Workshop. He lived in the Cass County area for many years; his last residence being in the Benchmark Healthcare facility in Harrisonville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Lou Paul; his stepmother, Helen Morton and a niece, Shauna Kay Heck. Denny is survived by his father, Grover Morton, Missouri Veterens Home in Warrensburg, Missouri; two brothers, Dexter Morton and wife, Pamela, Lee's Summit, Missouri and Dudley Morton and wife, Teresa, Peculiar, Missouri; four nieces and one nephew

2013 Butler Library Wish List
The Butler Public Library has released their wish list for 2013. The Butler Library is a not –for- profit private corporation which exists primarily on the generosity of the community. The day-to-day operation of the library is dependent upon our community to succeed and continue to be a service for our community.
The 2013 wish list consists of the need for monetary donations for the purchase of magazine subscriptions, new blinds for the community room. There is a need for 9 chair mats, 5-6 foot tables, an oscillating stand fan and contributions to help fund Story Hour and the Summer Reading Program.
