The Missouri State Highway Patrol Seeks Trooper Applicants
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, a premiere law enforcement agency, is testing for new troopers. The Patrol is encouraging qualified individuals of all backgrounds to apply, and will offer testing at nine different locations in Missouri. Those who successfully complete testing will be eligible to continue in the selection process for the 98th Recruit Class, scheduled to begin training on January 2, 2014. The application deadline is March 28, 2013. To be eligible candidates must possess a minimum of 60 college credits, or two years of federal active duty military service with an honorable discharge, or two years of POST certified, full-time law enforcement experience at the time recruit training begins.

Troop D, Springfield -- March 23, 2013
Troop A, Lee's Summit -- April 6, 2013
Troop H, St. Joseph -- April 13, 2013
General Headquarters (Jefferson City) รข April 20, 22, 24, and 26, 2013
The starting salary for trooper is $3,095 per month while in training;
$3,281 per month after six months; and $3,578 per month at two years of
service. Other benefits include group health insurance, contributory
retirement, career advancement, and more.
The selection process is a multi-phase testing procedure including: written
examination, a physical fitness for duty assessment, polygraph examination,
background investigation, and oral interview board. After a conditional
offer of employment, the applicant must successfully complete a medical
examination (to include vision and hearing), psychological examination, a
psychological interview, drug screening, and final applicant review.

Obituary - Orven “Dale” Clark

Orven Dale Clark, 73 of Hume, Missouri passed away January 31, 2013 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dale was born October 6, 1939 in Barry County, Missouri, son of Glen and Fala (King) Clark. He served in the Vietnam War, and sang and played music for his fellow troops. Dale drove a truck for Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) for approximately 38 years. Music was a very big part of Dale’s life, and he founded the Country Western band, “The Dale Clark Four.”
Dale loved to tell jokes, and was very outgoing and willing to help whenever he could. In later years, Dale and Evelyn retired to their farm in Hume, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Clark of Hume; sons Michael Clark of Oak Grove, MO and Matthew and wife Megan Clark of Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter Deanna Rhodes of Jefferson City, MO; and daughter Natalie Pool of Raytown, MO. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Talbert, and her children Teddy and Angie. He also leaves behind multiple grandchildren.

Alice Zelma Breen, age 99 of Butler, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Medicalodge Nursing Center in Butler. She was born December 6, 1913 to Howard and Zelma Berry Yeatman in Washington, D.C.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Beverly Phinney of Butler, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Breen; one son, Steven Breen; and one sister, Frances Ellis.

Sherry Page, age 65, passed away January 30, 2013 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born January 3, 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas to James and Gloria Kaufman. Sherry graduated in 1965 from Louisburg High School. She attended Heavenly Cosmetology School and graduated in 1967. Sherry was also a cook and manager at many different restaurants.
Sherry was preceded in death by her father James A. Kaufman, a sister Denise Kaufman Burton and a sister-in-law Kim Kaufman. She is survived by her mother Gloria Kaufman, Drexel, Mo.; brothers Roger (wife Ida) Kaufman of Amsterdam, Missouri, James A. Kaufman Jr. of Drexel, Missouri, Ricky (wife Connie) Kaufman of Drexel, Missouri, Brian Kaufman of Drexel, Missouri, Terry Kaufman of Merwin, Missouri; sister Ramona Neuerhouse of Texas. Sherry is also survived by her aunts Evelyn (husband Gerald), Mary Kaufman, Betty Kaufman and Dorothy Kaufman Davidson, all of Paola, Kansas, Sylvia Sinacola of Columbus, Ohio; uncle Billy Williams of Ft. Scott, Kansas; 11 nieces; 4 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Sherry also leaves behind her closest friends Bridgett Cox, Philby Mawhirter and Sheryl Green.
Smoke reported at Bates County Jail
Butler Fire Department is on scene at the Bates County Jail. The report was a smoke in the laundry room. unsure what caused the smoke at this time but it is under control.When and If we receive the full report we will keep you updated.
