MoDOT/Southwest Travel Advisory:
For Tuesday into Wednesday, Feb. 26-2

* Major roads are clear with crews working to clear all minor roads in southwest Missouri

* More light snow predicted overnight with blowing snow could cover roads once again Tuesday into Wednesday

Weather Conditions: Most of the heavy snow fall has moved out of the area and temperatures remain around the freezing mark.
Additional light snow is predicted Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with one to three inches possible along the Route 54 corridor with a dusting to an inch south of Route 54.

Travel Conditions: Drivers are urged to use extreme caution when traveling overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Additional snow will cause roads to become covered again. In some areas, blowing snow also may cause roads to become covered.
Road Clearing: Snow coupled with temperatures near the freezing mark have allowed MoDOT crews to make steady progress clearing roadways during the day Tuesday.
Full to partial snow-clearing crews will stay on the job Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Crews will plow roads as necessary and treat areas that may refreeze overnight.
Driveways: As crews plow roads, driveways and other entrances may become blocked by snow. Here are some useful tips for keeping driveways clear of snow: http://www.modot.org/road_conditions/keepdrivewayclear.htm

Winter Weather Driving Tips: * Buckle up.

Country Mart Closing Early today

Country Mart Grocery Store in Butler will be closing today Tuesday February 26, 2013 at 3:00pm. Due to inclement weather.

From the Bates County Sheriffs Office

Bates County is experiencing large amounts of power outages in the region. Be advised that this will take long periods of time to get all the power restored to the people. You should be prepared for extreme cold and just because you have power now may not mean you will have power later. We encourage people to check the welfare of people in rural areas.

Update from Osage Valley

Update: We have nearly 4000 without power. We have restored power to many but the wind is causing more outages. One step forward, two steps backward. Progress is very slow due to the conditions. Additional crews are coming in but we want to warn members that outage times may be lengthy. We cannot assure everyone at this time that we will have everyone's power restored today.

Adrian School Closed Tomorrow

Adrian R-3 School will be closed tomorrow 2/27/13 due to inclement weather. Bates County Live along with FM. 92.1 will keep you updated on all closings.
