Semi in the ditch

Bates County Sheriff along with Missouri State Highway Patrol is in route to a semi truck on it's side in a ditch. This accident is on 52 Highway East and O Highway. Please use caution when traveling in this area.

Butler Bears Start State Title Journey

The Butler Bears will travel to Sedalia Smith Cotton High School on Wednesday evening to open up state basketball action. They will play the Higginsville Huskers the game starts at 6pm and will air on FM.92.1. Good Luck Butler Bears.

Crews are continuing to work to restore power but many will be without power throughout the night. Please continue trying to call your outage in. Library Closed tomorrow

The Butler Public Library will be closed tomorrow  Wednesday February 27, 2013 due to inclement weather.

Obituary - Evelyn Hoover

Evelyn Hoover, age 50, Mound City, Kansas passed away Monday February 25, 2013. She was born at Amoret, Missouri the daughter of Marion and Evelyn White Wisdom. She graduated from Miami High School and attended Cosmetology School at Fort Scott Community College . She married Larry Hoover on December 1, 1990 in the Linn County Courthouse Gazebo in Mound City. Evelyn was blessed with many talents. She was a talented artist, musician and singer. She loved walking on the beach, going to the casino, attending auctions and shopping at garage sales. She was preceded in death by her father, Marion, and three brothers: Rusty, Leroy and Butch. She is survived by her husband Larry, mother, Evelyn Purdy and Harry, son, Josh Morlan, grandson, Eli Love, three brothers: Joker, Peewee and Duane Wisdom, and two sisters, Irene Hicks and Judy Gurley. 

Funeral service will be 11 AM Friday March 1, 2013 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Mound City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Evelyn Hoover Memorial Fund. Help is on the way for Osage Valley

 A crew from New-Mac Electric Company out of Neosho Missouri Just arrived out at Osage Valley around 3:45pm Today. They are here to help restore power to all the people that are out. Please remember to try to stay warm tonight if you are out of power. Osage Valley and New-Mac are working hard to get all power restored. Bates County Live will update all the updates from Osage Valley when they become available.
