Adrian School is looking for Help
Discount Cards
Sonic Discount Cards are on sale right now to raise money for the rehab of the 6th Habitat for Humanity Home in this area. The location for the 6th home will be in Rich Hill and is being refurbished to make it livable and become a home for a Bates County family. They are being sold for $5 each and you will get several discounts on burgers, hot dogs, kids meals and other Sonic Menu Items. Electric City in the Dark
The Electric City ( Butler) experienced a total city power outage early Sunday morning. Most of the power is restored now and the cause is still under investigation. Power was out around 2 hours. Bates County Live will update this story when the cause and more information becomes available
Fire North of Ballard
Adrian Fire along with a tanker truck from Creighton Fire and Bates County Sheriff is in route to a reported vehicle engulfed in flames. This is located North of Ballard on BB Highway to County Road 14004 then a half a mile on that road. The Bates County Sheriff's Department is now reporting the structure is not on fire. There is a car approximately 30 yards from the structure that is fully engulfed in flames at this time. The fire has not reached the house. Bates County live will update this when more information becomes available.

Around Butler book available soon
On Friday, March 15th,
Vance Woods is coming to Butler to promote the new book, “Around Butler.” Vance will be at three different locations on
Friday:
Southside Café from 8:00 –
9:00 am, the Courthouse from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, and the Inn Café from 5:00 –
6:00 pm. Books will be available for
sale at these locations and Vance will gladly sign your copy. This is an opportunity for you to visit with
Vance and hear the details about how this project came to be.
Vance spent countless hours
and made several trips to Butler from his home in Waco, Texas. His commitment to this book project was firm
and he diligently sought-out photographs, stories and facts designed to meet
the strict criteria of Arcadia Publishing.
Everyone in Butler should take this opportunity to thank Vance for this
remarkable body of work.
Please take time to visit
with Vance while he is here and let him know his tireless dedication is greatly
appreciated. Arcadia Publishing has
placed books at various business locations throughout town. Co-author Brian Phillips has copies available
and the Bates County Museum Gift Shop is also selling the books.

James Everett Harvey, 91 of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away March 8, 2013 at his home in Harrisonville. James was born May 29, 1921 in Valentine, Nebraska, son of John W. and Maude (Rawley) Harvey.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary A. Harvey; son James Gary Harvey; brother Jack Harvey; sister Barbara Hickman and sister Alice Harvey. He is survived by his son, Gary Harvey of Harrisonville; grandson Cole Everett Harvey; granddaughter Ciara Marie Harvey; brother Bob Harvey; and brother Bill Harvey.
